Saxon men swim past Utica

ALFRED, NY — The Alfred University men's swimming and diving team got wins in every non-diving event en route to a 128-75 victory over visiting Utica in the Saxons' final home dual meet of the season Saturday afternoon.
Juniors Dav
e Coombes (Dansville, NY/Dansville) and
Zac Toth (Lockport, NY/Starpoint) each posted two wins as the Saxons improved to 3-2 in dual meet action. Coombes won the 200 freestyle (1:50.54) and 100 freestyle (50.10) and Toth took the 200 individual medley (2:05.88) and 500 free (5:07.07).
Other individual winners for the Saxons were: junior
Joe Rogers (Dublin, NH), in the 1,000 freestyle (10:52.06); junior
Dave Luke (Ocala, FL/West Port), in the 50 free (22.64); senior
Pete Sowinski (Akron, NY/Akron), in the 100 butterfly (58/43); sophomore
Jake Olson (Dansville, NY/Dansville), in the 100 backstroke (57.05); and senior
Terry Soto (Mt. Morris, NY/Mt. Morris), in the 100 breaststroke (1:09.73).
AU swept the relays, with Olson, Soto, senior
Jake Giglio (Hornell, NY/Hornell) and Luke winning the 200 medley relay (2:03.44) and Luke, Toth, Coombes and Sowinski taking the 200 free relay (1:42.92).
