Three Athletes Earn ECAC Weekly Honors

Three Empire 8 student-athletes have been named Corvias Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Athletes of the Week for the week of Jan. 13-19. 

Men's Basketball
Jared Suderley – Hartwick College

Forward, Senior, Newport, NY

Suderley had a solid three games for the Hawks last week as Hartwick went 3-0. He was a combined 21-40 (52.5%) from the field. On Tuesday against Stevens, he scored 24 points and tallied 16 rebounds in Hartwick's 74-68 win. On Saturday, Suderley scored 20 points and pulled down 14 rebounds to go along with four assists in the Hawks' 131-124 OT win against Alfred. Against Houghton on Saturday, he scored a season-high 36 points, 17 rebounds and dished out four assists in a 96-82 victory. Suderley was a perfect 21-of-21 from the free throw line. For the season, he has eight double-double games.


Women's Basketball
Lindsey Kelly – Nazareth College

Sophomore, Center, Doylestown, Pa.

Lindsey Kelly averaged 20.5 points and 5.5 rebounds in a pair of conference home games over the weekend. She had 20 points and six rebounds and made the game-winning shot at the buzzer of Friday's 54-53 victory over Utica. She added 21 points and five rebounds in a 63-54 loss to Ithaca Saturday. She shot .630 (17 for 27) from the field in the two games and .875 (7 for 8) from the free throw line.


Women's Indoor Track & Field
Amy Regan – Stevens Institute of Technlogy

Sophomore, Green Brook, NJ

In the Ramapo College Indoor Select at the New York City Armory, Regan finished first overall in the 3,000-meter run in a time of 9:47.59 which was 10 seconds faster than the next closest runner. Regan broke her own school record by 27 seconds and set the NCAA Division III facility standard. Her time is also the fastest performance in DIII this season and is a qualifying mark for ECAC's. If her time stays within the top 17 nationally at the end of the season, Regan will compete in the NCAA Indoor Championships.
