The calendar is nearly set to turn to February, which means spring sports will join in the action soon. But those in winter sports continue to perform at a high level. Those earning weekly awards include...

Men’s Basketball Player – Stevens
Patrick Sabatino, Junior, Forward – Westfield, NJ/Westfield
 
Junior forward Patrick Sabatino led Stevens to a pair of conference road wins this past weekend, averaging 22.0 points, 6.5 rebounds, 2.0 assists and 1.5 blocks. Sabatino totaled 44 points on just 27 field-goal attempts, shooting 59.3 percent from the field (16-for-27) and 83.3 percent from the line (10-for-12).
 
Men’s Basketball Rookie – St. John Fisher
Keegan Ryan, Freshman, Forward – Plattsburgh, NY/Beekmantown
 
Keegan Ryan shot 50.0 percent from the field (11-for-22) and 90.0 percent from the foul line (9-for-10) as he guided the St John Fisher College men's basketball team to a 1-1 record this past weekend. Ryan scored a career-high 21 points to go along with 10 rebounds in the win over Elmira. He also registered two blocks. The Plattsburgh native looked sharp against Alfred as well, scoring 10 points and pulling down five rebounds in only 15 minutes of action.
 
Women’s Basketball Player – Ithaca
Jenn Escobido, Senior, Forward – Lisbon, CT/Norwich Free Academy
 
Senior Jenn Escobido had back-to-back game-high scoring performances to lead Ithaca to a 2-0 week and a spot atop the conference rankings. With a career-high 24 points Friday night in a win over Stevens, Escobido became the 12th player in program history to score 1,000 points. She put up 18 points in a win over Hartwick Saturday. Escobido also averaged 7.0 rebounds and added four steals and a pair of assists. She hit 16-of-25, 64.0 percent from the floor, and was 10-of-11, 90.9 percent at the charity stripe.
 
Women’s Basketball Rookie – Utica
Kelsey Cowell, Freshman, Forward – Schenectady, NY/Mohanasen
 
Kelsey Cowell averaged 8.5 points and seven rebounds a game in two conference game. On Friday against Hartwick, she netted nine points while shooting 4-7 from the field and grabbed nine rebounds. The following day against Stevens, she scored eight points to go along with five rebounds and two blocks.
 
Men’s Swimming & Diving Athlete – Ithaca
Matt Morrison, Junior – Simsbury, CT/Simsbury
 
Matt Morrison swept the diving events in a dual meet against Alfred on Saturday, highlighted by scores of 345.35 in the 1-meter dive and 331.65 in the 3-meter dive. His scores marked career highs and also set pool and school records. Morrison broke his own program mark in the 1-meter, while his performance in the 3-meter broke Derek Rand's score of 314.60 set in 2012. Morrison paced the field of nine entries at the Dick Comanzo Diving Invite on Sunday in the 1-meter with a score of 569.95, easily meeting the NCAA qualifying standard. Morrison's score set a team and pool record in the 11-dive format, while his split score at 350.155 set a program record at six dives, breaking the record he had set 24 hours earlier.
 
Women’s Swimming & Diving Athlete – Ithaca
Nickie Griesemer, Freshman – West Chester, PA/Bayard Rustin
 
Freshman Nickie Griesemer has been sensational for the Bombers this season. She swept both diving events for the women against Alfred on Saturday, taking first in the 1-meter with a score of 275.65 and first in the 3-meter with a season-best score of 295.35. Griesemer also swept both dives at the Dick Comanzo Invite on Sunday,finishing first in the 1-meter with a personal best score of 477.95 and the 3-meter dive with a score of 496.50. Both met NCAA qualifying standards.
 
Men’s Indoor Track Athlete – Utica
Frank Volino, Sophomore – Syracuse, NY/Cicero-North Sycracuse
 
Frank Volino finished first in the 60m hurdles final at the Hamilton Invitational last weekend. He posted a time of 8.39, his best time of his career. It is also the best time in the conference this indoor season.
 
Men’s Indoor Field Athlete – St. John Fisher
Eric Riley, Junior – Wampsville, NY/Oneida
 
Eric Riley placed third overall in the high jump with a height of 1.93m as the St. John Fisher College men's track and field team participated in the Continental Invite this past weekend in Clinton, N.Y. Riley also had a strong showing in the triple jump, finishing in eleventh place (out of 39 competitors) with a distance of 5.92 m.
 
Women’s Indoor Track Athlete – Utica
Anastasia Bowden, Senior – Monticello, NY/Monticello
 
Anastasia Bowden won the 400 meter dash at the Hamilton Invitational. She posted a 59.95 time, her college best. It is also the fastest time for the conference this indoor season. She also played a vital role in the team's win in the 4 x 200 relay. Utica posted a time of 1:48.59.
 
Women’s Indoor Field Athlete – Ithaca
Emilia Scheemaker, Junior – Scarborough, ME/Scarborough
 
Junior Emilia Scheemaker shattered her own triple jump record to lead the Ithaca College women's track & field team in competition Saturday at Cornell's Upstate Challenge. Scheemaker's jump ranks first in the nation by a startling 54 centimeters. She had held the triple jump school record with a 12.00-meter jump since March 1, 2013. Scheemaker placed second in the event with a mark of 12.25 meters (40' 2.25") to handedly qualify for the ECAC Championships.
