Four E8 Athletes Earn Weekly ECAC Honor

Four Empire 8 Athletic Conference student-athletes have been honored by the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) for their performances during the week ending January 26.

Women's Indoor Track Athlete
Anastasia Bowden – Utica College

Senior, Monticello, NY
 
Bowden won the 400 meter dash at the Hamilton Invitational. She posted a 59.95 time, her college best. It is also the fastest time for the conference this indoor season. She also played a vital role in the team's win in the 4 x 200 relay. Utica posted a time of 1:48.59.

Women's Indoor Field Athlete
Emilia Scheemaker – Ithaca College

Junior, Scarborough, ME/Scarborough
 
Scheemaker shattered her own triple jump record to lead the Ithaca College women's track & field team in competition Saturday at Cornell's Upstate Challenge. Scheemaker's jump ranks first in the nation by a startling 54 centimeters. She had held the triple jump school record with a 12.00-meter jump since March 1, 2013. Scheemaker placed second in the event with a mark of 12.25 meters (40' 2.25") to handedly qualify for the ECAC Championships.


Women's Diving Athlete
Nickie Greiesemer – Ithaca College

Freshman, West Chester, PA

Freshman Nickie Griesemer has been sensational for the Bombers this season. She swept both diving events for the women against Alfred on Saturday, taking first in the 1-meter with a score of 275.65 and first in the 3-meter with a season-best score of 295.35. Griesemer also swept both dives at the Dick Comanzo Invite on Sunday,finishing first in the 1-meter with a personal best score of 477.95 and the 3-meter dive with a score of 496.50. Both met NCAA qualifying standards.



Men's Diving Athlete
Matt Morrison – Ithaca College

Junior, Simsbury, Conn.

Morrison swept the diving events in a dual meet against Alfred on Saturday, highlighted by scores of 345.35 in the 1-meter dive and 331.65 in the 3-meter dive. His scores marked career highs and also set pool and school records. Morrison broke his own program mark in the 1-meter, while his performance in the 3-meter broke Derek Rand's score of 314.60 set in 2012. Morrison paced the field of nine entries at the Dick Comanzo Diving Invite on Sunday in the 1-meter with a score of 569.95, easily meeting the NCAA qualifying standard. Morrison's score set a team and pool record in the 11-dive format, while his split score at 350.155 set a program record at six dives, breaking the record he had set 24 hours earlier.
