The 2013-14 Empire 8 athletic campaign continues as the calendar flips to a new year. Last week marked the first full seven days back on the hardwood as the men's and women's basketball programs began conference play and there were several top performances for fans to indulge in. Men’s Basketball Player – Hartwick
Kyle Bradley, Senior, Forward – Cornwall, NY/Cornwall
 
Kyle Bradley had a solid three game stretch for the Hawks this past week as he made 28 of 35 shots (.800) and 13 of 21 free throws (.620). He was 8-of-11 from the field for 24 points on Monday against Hobart. Bradley scored 14 points on 7-of-9 shooting for 14 points in a 92-50 rout of Ithaca on Friday night and followed up with a career-high 31 points and added 10 rebounds in a 92-77 victory over Utica on Saturday. In three games, he totaled 20 rebounds, seven assists, and eight steals.
 
Men’s Basketball Rookie – St. John Fisher
Keegan Ryan, Freshman, Forward – Plattsburgh, NY/Beekmantown
 
Keegan Ryan continued to impress as the freshman helped lead Fisher to three consecutive wins this past week. Ryan dropped nine points and pulled down a career-high 14 rebounds in Fisher's win over Thomas College at the Woodcliff Hotel and Spa Tournament on Monday. The Plattsburgh native went on to score 13 points to go along with eight boards and two assists in a victory over Houghton in which Ryan was also 5-6 from the charity stripe. The freshman forward then notched16 points on 5-10 shooting including a perfect 6-6 from the free-throw line as Fisher cruised past Elmira on Saturday afternoon.
 
Women’s Basketball Player – Ithaca
Kathryn Campbell, Senior, Guard – Wall, NJ/Wall
 
Over the last week, senior Kathryn Campbell led the Bombers with 16.3 points per game to become the 11th player in program history to score 1,000 points. She did so against the top-ranked team in the country, DePauw, and is the first Bomber to hit the threshold since the 2009-10 season. Starting all three contests, Campbell added 11 rebounds, seven assists, one steal and one block, while shooting 43.5 percent from the floor and 38.9 percent from three-point land. Campbell twice hit double digits, leading the Bombers to victory with 24 at Stevens.
 
Women’s Basketball Rookie – Stevens
Erica Guketlov, Freshman, Guard – Spotswood, NJ/Bishop George Ahr
 
Erica Guketlov drained eight three pointers (8-for-15) in two games for Stevens last weekend. In a 62-52 win over Utica, she netted all 12 points from long range with six rebounds, four assists and three steals. The next day, she scored 16 points in a 78-69 loss against Ithaca.
