ITHACA 1, ST. JOHN FISHER 0 (2OT)
The Ithaca College men's soccer team dropped St. John Fisher on Saturday afternoon, handing the Cardinals a 1-0 double overtime defeat at Growney Stadium. The victory pushed the Bombers' overall mark to 4-6-2, and their Empire 8 record to 4-1-0.

Senior Casey Williamson, who led the game with three shots, secured his fourth goal of the season and first game-winner, while senior goalkeeper Jordan Gentile did not need to make a single save in 105 minutes of play en route to his second shutout of the 2014 campaign. The Bombers held the advantage in shots, recording 15 to the Cardinals' nine, and also held an 8-to-3 edge in corner kicks.

The Bombers peppered the Cardinals' throughout regulation, including a 10-shot second half, four of which were on target. After a scoreless 90 minutes of play, the contest went to overtime tied at 0-0.

With the battle five minutes away from ending in a draw, the Bombers were finally able to get past the St. John Fisher goalkeeper, as junior Joseph Dobbins connected with Williams who sped down the left side and ripped a shot to the far post for the game-winning tally to secure the victory. The assist was Dobbins' second of the season.

STEVENS 1, HOUGHTON 1
Behind a first half goal from sophomore Patrick Masur, the Stevens Institute of Technology men's soccer team blanked Houghton College Saturday afternoon 1-0.

The win moved Stevens' record to 10-3-1 (5-0-0) while Houghton dropped to 5-8-1 (1-3-1).

Both teams traded possessions through the first 10 minutes before Houghton senior Kevin Miranda unleashed a shot in the 11th minute that was saved by sophomore goalie Mike Renna. Houghton managed one more shot in the 14th minute that went wide before Stevens got on the board late in the half.

Off an across the box pass from senior Quinn Conner in the 43rd minute, Masur headed a shot past sophomore goalie Jacob Dunnett for the score. The goal was the second of the season for Masur while Conner picked up his third assist.

The Ducks took the lead into the break despite being outshot 3-1.

The lead held up for the Ducks through the second half after saves from Renna in the 67th, 74th, and 78th minutes. Masur was able to unleash a second shot in the 81st minute, but Dunnett was there for the save.

Renna made four saves in his sixth shutout of the season, giving the Ducks eight total for the year. As a program, Stevens is now 32-2-2 in the month of October since 2010.

The match also marked the second time Stevens has been outshot this season.

ALFRED 2, ELMIRA 0
The AU men's soccer team blanked the Elmira College Soaring Eagles, 2-0, en route to their third E8 victory on the season.

It was all Saxons during the 2014 Homecoming as the Saxons put seven shots on goal, and holding Elmira to none.  The first goal for the Saxons came in the 21st minute when Ivan Capitan-Carro broke away from the defense and wrapped the ball around the keeper to take the lead, 1-0.

The Saxons continued to threaten the rest of the half, putting two more shots on goal.  However, the Saxons were unable to increase the lead before the half.

In the second period the Saxons came out ready to continue their dominance.  From the 61st to the 63rd minute the Saxons barraged the Elmira keeper with shots, but were unable to break the plane for the goal.  The most promising attempt came off a corner by Graeme Corrigan who found senior Jeff Thomas streaking into the box and flicked a hard header directly at the keeper who parried the ball away.  Thomas would threaten again in the 63rd minute from nearly 30 yards out but the ball went just over the cross bar.

Finally, Thomas got his break and his persistence paid off in the 69th minute when he received a throw in from Oumar Soumahoro in the box and turned hard on the ball to rip a shot over the keepers head, giving AU the insurance goal, 2-0.

Richard Lander looked to increase the lead with approximately 14 minutes to go when the ball popped into open space about 40 yards out and he charged on the ball to crush an immaculate shot off the cross bar and out of play.  As the final horn sounded, the Saxons were the victors, 2-0.

In the goal for the Saxons was freshman Chris Gutierrez who faced no shots on goal, and therefore had no saves over the 90 minute game.
