William Smith 4, ST. JOHN FISHER 3 (OT)
The St. John Fisher College field hockey overcame a 3-1 deficit against visiting William Smith to force overtime, however Fisher was unable to complete the comeback as the Herons netted the game-winning goal six minutes into the extra period to earn the 4-3 victory.

With the loss Fisher falls to 10-5 overall, while William Smith moves to an identical 10-5 mark.

Trailing 3-1 with 13 minutes to play, Emily Markarian knocked in a shot in front of a congested goal to pull Fisher to within one tally.

The freshman was at it again in the 64th minute, as Stacie Skidmore dropped a pass back, allowing Markarian to rifle it through the open lane to tie the score at 3-3.

Fisher had an offensive onslaught with four shots taken in less than 10 seconds early in the first half, capped off with Caitlin Allen scoring on the back post for her second goal of the season at the 4:27 mark to give the Cardinals a 1-0 advantage.

It didn't take the Herons long to respond however as Hannah Wood beat a defender and blasted a shot into the net to even the score at 1-1.

The visitors added the only other goal 15:31 into the half as a high lofted shot from Alessandra Patrizio found the upper left corner.  William Smith led 2-1 at the break.

The Herons were able to carry their momentum over in the second half.  Hannah Wood notched her second goal of the game to take a 3-1 lead.  Wood also scored the eventual game-winner in overtime.

Allen nearly had her second goal of the game with 18 minutes to play as Markarian played a pass across goal, however a sliding Allen just missed re-directing the pass into the near post.

Danielle Famolaro made a career-high 20 saves in net for Fisher.
