Five ECAC Athletes of the Week
Five Empire 8 Athletic Conference student-athletes have been honored as the Corvias Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Division III Northwest, Upstate, and Mid-Atlantic Athletes of the Week for their performances during the week of Oct. 13-19, 2014.
Football - Northwest
Co-Offensive Player of the Week
Andrew Mrozek - The College at Brockport, Senior, WR, Depew, N.Y.
Mrozek caught six passes for 230 yards and two touchdowns in Brockport’s 45-42 win against Alfred University.
Defensive Player of the Week
Brandon Miller - St. John Fisher College, Junior, LB, Shendehowa, N.Y.
Miller recorded a game and career-high 17 tackles, 13 of which were solo stops, in a 42-7 win over Utica College. The junior linebacker racked up six tackles for loss and also a sack.
Special Teams Player of the Week
Ryan Kolb - Salisbury University, Sophomore, KR, Manassas Park, Va.
Kolb returned a kick-off 85 yards for a touchdown in Salisbury's 59-49 win against Hartwick on Saturday. The sophomore averaged 42.3 yards in his three kickoff returns and had one punt return for seven yards.
Women’s Cross Country - Upstate
Co-Runner of the Week
Amy Regan – Stevens, Jr., Green Brook, N.J.
Regan bested a field of 259 runners at the Connecticut College Invitational. The junior posted a time of 20:56 on the 6K Harkness Memorial State Park course, finishing 50 seconds ahead of the second-place finisher. Regan set a new course record by 23 seconds.
Field Hockey - Mid-Atlantic
Offensive Player of the Week
Catherine Willard – Nazareth College, Jr., F, Pittsford, N.Y.
Willard scored all three goals, including the game-winner with 1:55 left in regulation, of Saturday's 3-2 win at St. Lawrence. The junior forward scored the tying and go-ahead goals less than two minutes apart late in the first half. Then, after St. Lawrence tied the score at 2-2 early in the second half, Willard scored her third goal of the game and team-leading 13th of the season with 1:55 to go.
