ELMIRA 3, HOUGHTON 2 (OT)
Just 52 seconds into overtime, Alli Gilbert '16 brought the ball up the field and shot the ball over the Highlander netminder and into the cage to lift the Elmira College field hockey team (2-13, 1-7 E8) to a 3-2 win over Houghton College (3-13, 0-7 E8) today. Gilbert's overtime score was her third of the game while Mikayla Rebusmen '17 stopped three shots in today's win.
 
The highlanders found the scoreboard first with 3:26 left in the first half despite Elmira outshooting Houghton, 9-6.
 
The EC women evened things up 3:16 into the second half when Gilbert found the ball and ran up the left side of the field and punched it to the back of the net.  Gilbert put the Soaring Eagles into the lead with 16:30 left in the second half after bringing the ball up the field and blasting the ball into the cage. Houghton found the equalizer with just 5:47 left in regulation play. As neither team would find a go-ahead goal before the end of the second half, the game went into overtime.
 
The rest is history, as Gilbert would complete her hat trick just 52 seconds into the overtime period to give the EC women the 3-2 win.

ST. JOHN FISHER 2, WASHINGTON & JEFFERSON 1
The St. John Fisher College field hockey team set a new College record for wins in a season on Saturday, as the Cardinals picked up their 11th victory of the year in a 2-1 win at Washington & Jefferson College.

With the win, Fisher improves to 11-5 overall and 7-0 in the Empire 8 Conference. 

The Cardinals, competing in just their fourth season as an NCAA Division III program, have secured at least the No. 2 seed in the Empire 8 Conference Championship. They will play at Utica College (14-1, 7-0) next Saturday with the victor winning the Empire 8 regulars-season title and earning the rite to host the Empire 8 Championship.

The winner of the Empire 8 Championship will earn an automatic bid to the NCAA Division III Championship.

Fisher took the lead for good early in as Elizabeth Cusack scored her 14th goal of the season off a pass from Stacie Skidmore in the game's fourth minute.
Skidmore picked her second assist of the day nearly 15 minutes later. Emily Markarian finished the 2-on-1 break with a shot into the far corner for her team-leading 16th goal of the year to put her team up, 2-0.

The Presidents got on the board with just over 11 minutes left in the regulation, but goalie Danielle Famolaro, who finished with two saves, kept W&J at bay for the remainder of the game.

Fisher finished the game with a 14-5 advantage in shots and held an 8-4 edge in penalty corners.

NAZARETH 5, HARTWICK 0
Nazareth scored three goals in the first half and two in the second half to defeat Hartwick, 5-0, in Empire 8 field hockey action Saturday. The Golden Flyers improved to 8-10, 3-4 in the E8. Hartwick is 4-12, 2-5 in the E8.

Junior Catherine Willard scored Nazareth's first four goals and now has 17 for the season, tying the single season scoring record. Kelly Flanagan also scored 17 goals in 2007.

Willard scored the first of her four goals unassisted 5:31 into the first half. Her second goal at 14:46, also unassisted was a hard shot from the right side. Willard scored again at 26:55 to give the Golden Flyers a 3-0 lead at the half.

In the second half, Willard scored unassisted at 63:41. Sophomore Kristina Back scored the fifth goal for the Golden Flyers assisted by freshman Kelsi Barnholt with just 13 seconds remaining in the second half.

Senior Shannon Winney started for the Golden Flyers and made six saves and allowed no goals, her second shutout of the 2014 season.

Nazareth had a 13-11 shots on goal advantage and 6-5 penalty corner advantage.

UTICA 3, RPI 0
The Utica College field hockey team extended the nation's longest active winning streak to 13 games as the Pioneers cruised to a 3-0 victory over visiting RPI on Saturday afternoon at Charles A. Gaetano Stadium.  Utica senior Hannah Mackey (Locke, NY/Moravia Central), the nation's leading scorer, advanced her scoring streak to 13 games as she netted two goals for the Pioneers.

Utica improved to 15-1 overall headed into their final non-conference contest of the season on the road Wednesday when they take on Oneonta State. The stage is also set for a battle of undefeated Empire 8 teams, with hosting rights for the Empire 8 Conference Tournament on the line, when the Pioneers (7-0 in Empire 8 play) host St. John Fisher College (7-0) next Saturday in their regular season finale at 1 p.m.

Mackey got the Pioneers off to a quick start when she netted two goals in a span of 3:18 to give Utica a 2-0 advantage at the 16:20 marker against RPI.  Mackey now has 32 goals this season.

Senior Alaina Stojkovski (Liverpool, NY/Cicero-North Syracuse) capped the scoring on the day with her 10th goal of the season in the 63rd minute to seal the victory for the Pioneers. 

UC outshot RPI 25-8 on the afternoon and Pioneer freshman goalie Samantha Whitehouse (Greenwich, NY/Greenwich) stopped four shots as she picked up her fifth win of the season. The shutout was the first of Whitehouse's collegiate career.

The Pioneers also earned a 7-5 advantage in penalty corner opportunities.

RPI goalie Hannah Clough made 12 saves in the loss for the Engineers.


STEVENS 2, Ramapo 1
The Stevens Institute of Technology earned its second-straight win Saturday with a 2-1 triumph at Ramapo College.
 
Stevens moves to 8-10 with the win, while Ramapo falls to 2-15 in defeat.
 
The Ducks were led by goals from senior forward Jillian Fiebel and freshman Victoria Alvarez, an assist from junior midfielder Dailyn Brook and nine saves from goalie Emily Stukenborg.
 
The hosts jumped on top 1-0 in the 13th minute, when Gianna Mouskourie scored her 10th goal of the season, but the Ducks kept the Roadrunners off the board the rest of the way, en route to the 2-1 win.
 
At 23:39, Alvarez scored her team-high 14th goal of the year and the two teams went into the locker room tied at one apiece. The Ducks ended the period with major edges in shots (19-3) and penalty corners (6-2), but Ramapo goalie Emily Wisneski was able to make 16 first-half denials.
 
In the second half, the Ducks received the game-winner in the 40th minute, just 4:40 into the period. Brook was able to feed Fiebel in front for the game-winner which was her fifth marker of the season. The assist was Brook's 13th of the year.
 
Despite the tight one-goal win, the Ducks dominated, ending the contest with a 32-13 margin in shots and a 16-5 advantage in penalty corners. Stukenborg tallied her eighth win of the season for the Ducks with her nine saves, while Wisneski was credited with 21 in the loss.


ITHACA 7, Brockport 1
The Ithaca College field hockey team pulled out a big win over Brockport Saturday, defeating the Golden Eagles by a score of 7-1 at Bob Boozer Field at Eunice Kennedy Shriver Stadium in Brockport. The win improves Ithaca's overall record to 6-8 overall.
 
Seven different Bombers scored in the rout, including Caitlin O'BrienMichaela DonohueColleen Keegan-TwomblyKelly ConsadineDanielle CoiroLauren Delia and Taylor O'Neil. Sophomore goalkeeper Katie Lass made six saves on seven Brockport shots in the victory. The Bombers dominated in total shots, recording 23 to the Golden Eagles' 13.
 
Ithaca scored four goals in the opening frame, starting with O'Brien's fourth of the season in just the third minute of play. O'Brien's goal came on a feed from Delia off a penalty corner, giving Ithaca the early advantage. O'Brien added to her point total with an assist on the next goal, setting up Donohue at 19:26 off another penalty corner. Donohue's tally marked her first as a Bomber, and gave Ithaca the 2-0 lead.
 
Just under 10 minutes later, Keegan-Twombly scored off her own rebound. Her goal marked her team-leading eighth tally of the season, adding to her career year. The Bombers scored their final goal of the first at 30:57, as Consadine converted on a pass to the corner of the cage from Coiro. Consadine's score marked her second goal of the season, and sent Ithaca to the break leading 4-0.
 
The Bombers once again jumped on the Golden Eagles at the start of the half, scoring three-straight goals in the first 10 minutes of the second. Coiro netted her sixth goal of the season in the 37th minute, thanks to a pass from Hannah Gerber off a penalty corner. Gerber's assist marked her first point as a Bomber, and helped push Ithaca's lead to 5-0.
 
Ithaca would add two more goals in the frame, with the first coming from Delia at 38:59, and the second coming from O'Neil at 42:08. Although Brockport was able to score late in the second half, it did little to change the outcome, as Ithaca secured the 7-1 non-conference victory.
