WXC Runs at NYSCTC Meet; Lock Haven
With one week to go before all teams are in action at Saratoga Spa State Park for the Empire 8 Conference Championships, teams used today as a final tune up. Four teams ran at the NYSCTC Championship in Rochester, NY, while Elmira and Houghton College rank at Lock Haven.
The Ithaca College women's cross country team secured its tenth consecutive runner-up finish at the NYSCTC Championship. Ithaca, who finished second out of 10 teams with just 69 points, has placed in the top three for 17 straight years. Ithaca finished second to St. Lawrence who won the meet with 20 points.
Junior Hannah Wright paced the Bombers with a 10th place finish (23:25.1) followed closely by senior Emily Smith in 11th place (23:27.2). Junior Anna Fay crossed the line in 15th (23:53.5), while Allison Bartkowiak was 16th (23:55.4) and Michaela Cioffredi was 17th (23:56).
St. John Fisher College enjoyed its best finish at the NYSCTC Championship in the program's history, as the Cardinals placed sixth overall on Saturday.
Sammy Van Gee led Fisher yet again on Saturday, placingf 19th overall out of 113 runners with a time of 24:04.
Katlin Shippy wasn't too far behind and finished in 24:36, good for 24th place overall.
Nicole Graziadei was 42nd at 25:49, while
Sarah Harrington placed 47th overall with a time of 26:29.
Jordan Rhen closed out the scoring for Fisher, finishing in 51st place with a time of 27:23.
Utica College placed seventh as a team and was led by Ashton Villeneuve (10th - 23:37.8). Sam Bennett finished in 25:58 to finish 43rd overall and Sarah DePalma was 48th (27:00).
Sophomore Mary Baughman was the top E8 finisher as she paced Alfred University to an eighth place team finish. Baughman finished eight individually in a time of 23:20.3. Freshman Lindsay Piriano was the second Saxon to finish in a time of 24:02, good for 18th place.

The Elmira College and Houghton College cross country teams competed in the Lock Haven University Go Fast River Run meet today.
The Highlanders finished 11th out of 19 teams, while the Soaring Eagles took 18th.
Joanna Friesen was the top Houghton finisher in 23:30, good for 25th place as she moved up over 20 spots across the final kilometer. Cara Davenport finished 74th in 25:07, Christel Enriquez-Fisher was 86th (25:25), Ella Hotchkiss was 95th (25:43), and Katrina Relyea was 112th (26:17).
Leading the Purple and Gold was Hannah Lundgren '18 who finished in 100th place with a time off 25:71.26. Behind her was Julia Ashey '17who placed 160th with a time of 29:02.53. Danielle Slate '17 ran the 6k with a time of 29:27.43 to finish 163rd while Shannon Dole '17 finished 171st with a time of 30:28.38 today.
