The Stevens Institute of Technology field hockey team won its third-straight game Sunday, earning a 3-0 shutout victory over William Paterson University in front of a big Senior Day crowd at the DeBaun Athletic Complex.

With the win, Stevens improves to 9-10 on the season. William Paterson drops to 6-10 in defeat.

Next up for the Ducks will be a big-time game against Empire 8 rival Nazareth College next Saturday (November 1) at the DeBaun Athletic Complex beginning at 1 p.m. The Ducks are currently in fourth place in the conference standings, one game ahead of Naz and a half game ahead of Ithaca College. With a win in the regular-season finale, Stevens will punch its ticket to the conference tournament.

Prior to Sunday's contest, Stevens honored senior forward Jillian Fiebel (Roxbury, N.J.) on the field, and she did not disappoint during the game, notching an assist and making a bevy of other nice plays.

The first 15 minutes of game action saw neither team get much going offensively, with most of contest being played in the middle third of the field.

On its second corner of the game, the Ducks were able to score, taking as 1-0 lead at 17:36. On the play, junior midfielder Dailyn Brook (Cherry Hill, N.J.) inserted to Fiebel. Fiebel touched and then ripped a shot that was eventually deflected into the upper-right corner of the cage by freshman forward Victoria Alvarez (Pine Beach, N.J.) for her 15th goal of the season. Both Brook and Fiebel notched assists on the play.

Each team had several chances late in the first half but the goalies did their part to keep it a 1-0 game in favor of the Ducks.

With less than a minute to play, William Paterson looked to have the game tied up, but freshman back Cassidy O'Hearn (Silver Spring, Md.) made a gorgeous defensive save to keep the Pioneers off the board. It was her team-high eighth defensive denial of the season.

Stevens received its second goal of the game from Alvarez as well at 43:22 of the second half. After a penalty corner, sophomore midfielder Nolie Prouty (Glendora, Calif.) was able to make several moves to create space before tossing in front to Alvarez for the deflection. It was Prouty's sixth helper of the year and the 16th marker for Alvarez.

Prouty notched her fifth goal of the year and third point of the game to close the scoring. Junior Erin Silvestri(Beverly, Mass.) fed Prouty in front, who controlled and made a pair of nifty moves before finding the back of the net.

Stevens goalie Emily Stukenborg (Stockholm, N.J.) made four saves to earn the shutout for the Ducks. It was the third clean sheet of the year for Stevens.

The Ducks ended the match with a 16-11 margin in shots, and the Pioneers finished with a 14-10 edge in penalty corners.
