ITHACA, N.Y. – The Ithaca College field hockey team defeated Geneseo late Tuesday evening, dropping the Knights by a score of 2-1 in double overtime at Higgins Stadium. The win pushes Ithaca's record to 7-8 overall.

Senior Natalie Lynch scored Ithaca's lone goal in regulation, while sophomore Cassie Schuttrumpf netted Ithaca's game-winning goal in double overtime. Sophomore goalkeeper Katie Lass made 15 saves in the contest, marking her second highest total of the season. Lynch and classmate Sarah Pfeifle each recorded a defensive save in the win.

Solid defense and better goaltending on both sides sent the game to halftime at a scoreless 0-0 draw.

Just over 10 minutes into the second half, Ithaca broke the scoring drought to give the Bombers a 1-0 advantage. Lynch took possession of the ball on the far side, before carrying in alone through the front of the goal mouth. Lynch muscled through a group of defenders, eventually beating the Geneseo goalkeeper with a shot to the right post at 46:03. Lynch's goal marked her third of the season, and gave Ithaca the lead early in the second half.

The Knights evened the contest in the 58th minute, putting the score at 1-1 with 12 minutes to go in regulation. Neither team was able to score in the remaining time, sending the game to overtime. Each team generated one shot on goal in the bonus frame, but neither scored, sending the game to a second overtime.

The Bombers fought off the Geneseo attack early in the second overtime, as Lass made five saves in just over six minutes of game time on a flurry of penalty corners from the Knights.

Ithaca responded with an offensive push in the closing minutes. After sustained pressure in the Geneseo zone, Schuttrumpf took possession of the ball just inside the shooting arc. Schuttrumpf shifted to her backhand, and sent a chip shot up and over the Geneseo keeper for the goal. Schuttrumpf's tally marked her second goal of the season, and gave Ithaca the 2-1 double overtime victory.

Ithaca returns to action on Nov. 1, as the Bombers head to Hartwick to close out the regular season. Start time is scheduled for 11 a.m.
