ST. JOHN FISHER 1, Buffalo State 1
The St. John Fisher College women's soccer team battled host Buffalo State College to a 1-1 tie on Wednesday afternoon at Buffalo State's Coyer Field.  With the tie, Fisher moves to 6-10-1 overall.  The Cardinals will play their final regular season game at 2 p.m. on Saturday at Houghton College.   Fisher (4-3 Empire 8) is vying for the fourth and final spot in the Empire 8 Conference Championship.  The Cardinals can lock up the No. 4 seed with a win or a tie against the Highlanders OR with a loss or tie from Hartwick, who hosts Stevens on Saturday as well.

After a scoreless first half, Taryn Guinta tallied her sixth goal of the year in the 55th minute off a pass from Jamie Alloco.

The lead would hold until the 70th minute when the Bengals answered with the equalizer.

Both teams had chances in the two overtime periods, but neither team could find the back of the net.

For Fisher, goalie Brooke Seavitt made three saves over the game's opening 79 minutes.  Gabriella Cotugno preserved the tie, making two saves in the final 31:40.

Oneonta 2, HARTWICK 1
Hartwick's women's soccer team had the lead going into halftime, but the host SUNY Oneonta Red Dragons would get a pair of second-half tallies to earn a 2-1 victory over the Hawks Wednesday at Red Dragon Field. With the setback, the Hawks fall to 7-8-1 overall.

The Hawks controlled the first half of play as they doubled up the Red Dragons in shots, 6-3. They jumped in front just over 31 minutes into the game as freshman Sierra Bentley collected a loose ball and fired in her seventh goal of the season past Oneonta keeper Kelley Murphy.

Eight minutes and 37 seconds into the second half, the Red Dragons would tie it on a goal from Taylor Mesina from the corner of the box.

The game remained even for the next 19 minutes until the 73:16 mark. Kayla Distin scored from in front with Laura Rolston picking up the assist. The Hawks managed one more shot on target the rest of the way on a Casey Boucher effort but it was saved by reserve keeper Rori Stark.

The Red Dragons finished the match with a 14-7 advantage in shots, including an 11-1 margin in the second half.

Murphy ended the game with four saves in the first half. Stark made one save in the final 45 minutes. Alley Maurer stopped seven Oneonta shots in the contest.

Western Connecticut St. 2, STEVENS 1
An early goal in each half by Western Connecticut State University proved too much to overcome for the Stevens Institute of Technology women's soccer team as the Ducks dropped a 2-1 decision in their final home game of the season.

The loss dropped Stevens to 10-6-0 (5-2-0) on the season, while Western Connecticut State improves to 13-5-1.

It was Western Connecticut State who struck first in the eighth minute off the foot of Meaghan Gustafson.  The Colonials corner kick was deflected away from traffic in the box to a wide open Gustafson, who notched her first goal of the season as the ball sailed over the Ducks goalkeeper, junior Evelyn Ting, as she scrambled to regain position. Celia DeVoe picked up the assist on the marker.

Ting stopped three shots in the setback.

Stevens answered with an offensive onslaught, outshooting the Colonials 12-3 in half. An equalizer came in the 23rd minute when a pass from senior Ann Heine left the Ducks' top goal scorer, sophomore Raba Nassif, all alone with the Colonial's keeper. Nassif beat the keeper to the left side for her 15th goal of the season.

Nassif is now tied for sixth on the single-season goals scored list in Stevens history.

A Ducks turnover early in the second half proved costly as the Colonials' Sarah Menta intercepted a pass from the Stevens defense and beat Ting in the 57th minute for the eventual game-winner.

Reminiscent of the first half, the Ducks responded, regaining control of possession, but were unable to find a second equalizer. Stevens finished with 20 shots compared to the Colonials' nine.

Colonials goalkeeper, Jillian Fernandez, was a difference maker in the match with eight saves.

Misericordia 3, ITHACA 2 (OT)
The No. 14 Ithaca College women's soccer team dropped a non-conference road game Wednesday night, falling to the No. 15 Misericordia Cougars by a score of 3-2 in overtime at Mangelsdorf Field. Ithaca moves to 13-3-0 overall on the year.

Sophomore Holly Niemiec and junior Kelsey King scored for the Bombers, while junior goalkeeper Beth Coppolecchia recorded six saves on nine Cougar shots. Ithaca registered 10 total shots to Misericordia's 20.

The Cougars came out fast in the opening half, netting the game's first goal in the 11th minute to take a 1-0 lead. Misericordia added to its lead with another goal at 33:57, putting the score at 2-0 in favor of the home Cougars.

Misericordia held the 2-0 lead for the remainder of the first half and well into the second frame, before Ithaca started its rally. The Bombers got on the board in the 75th minute, as Niemiec netted her third tally of the season to pull Ithaca within one goal.

The Bombers continued to push, evening the contest at 2-2 with just over two minutes remaining in the second half. King's team-leading 12th goal of the season tied the contest, sending the game to overtime.

Despite Ithaca's late-game rally, the Cougars responded with a goal just 1:15 into overtime. The Cougars' goal early in the bonus frame marked the end of the contest, giving Misericordia the 3-2 victory.

Daemen 1, ALFRED 0
The AU women's soccer team closed out its 2014 season with a 1-0 loss to Daemen College on Wednesday evening.

An early goal would prove to be the difference in a game full of offensive surges.  The Wildcat goal came off a corner kick sent in by Rose Carboni who found Juli Prentice for the goal in the 13th minute.  The Wildcats looked to increase their lead in the 21st minute, but the Saxons caught a break when the ball rattled off the crossbar.

The Saxons looked to mount an offensive attack of their own in the 29th minute when Nicole Lobur ripped a shot on goal but Kathryn Haessner turned the ball away. Mariana Crevison scooped up the rebound and attempted to follow up the shot from Lobur, but the ball went wide of the net.  The half would end in favor the Wildcats, 1-0.

Once again, the Saxons looked to deadlock the game at one when freshman Delaney Martin took a chance in the 53rd minute, but Haessner was there for the stop.  It was a freshman again in the 73rd minute when Lauren Wyant attempted some late game heroics and put a shot on goal.  However, the ball was turned away to keep the Saxons off the board.  As the game, and the season, came to an end the Saxons were topped 1-0.

Freshman keeper Sammy Jo Shanahan had 16 saves, a career high for the young goalie.
