Six ECAC Athletes of the Week

Six Empire 8 Athletic Conference student-athletes have been honored as the Corvias Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Division III Northwest, Upstate, and Mid-Atlantic Athletes of the Week for their performances during the week of Oct. 20-26, 2014.
 
FOOTBALL - Northwest
Offensive Player of the Week
Tom Dempsey, Ithaca College, Senior, QB, Andover, Mass.
Dempsey completed 26-of-37 passed for 320 yards and three touchdowns in Ithaca’s 32-7 win over Salisbury. The senior connected with seven different receivers in the game, with six of them having multiple receptions.

Defensive Player of the Week
Nick Woodman, Utica College, Junior, DE, Utica, N.Y.
Woodman posted three sacks, seven tackles, one forced fumble and one fumble recovery as the Pioneers topped Buffalo State 31-21 Saturday. Woodman recovered a fourth quarter fumble that led to the Pioneers' game-sealing touchdown pass to give the Pioneers a 17 point lead with 8:36 to go in the fourth.

Special Teams Player of the Week
Max Rottenecker, Ithaca College, Junior, K, Bochum, Germany
Rottenecker made field goals of 41, 45 and 31 yards in Ithaca’s 32-7 win over Salisbury on Saturday.

FIELD HOCKEY – Mid-Atlantic
Defensive Player of the Week:
Samantha Whitehouse – Utica College, Fr., GK, Greenwich, N.Y.
Whitehouse allowed just one goal in two games last week. On Wednesday, she made six saves to help Utica top 15th-ranked University of Rochester 2-1 in overtime. She followed that up with four saves in a 3-0 win over Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute to pick up her first career shutout.
 
MEN”S SOCCER – Upstate
Defensive Player of the Week
David Adbou – Utica College, Sr., GK, Whitesboro, N.Y.
Adbou posted two shutouts last week for Utica. The senior goalkeeper made a career-high 13 saves in the Pioneers’ 1-0 overtime victory over Canton. Adbou added six saves in a 2-0 win over St. John Fisher on Saturday. 

WOMEN”S SOCCER – Upstate
Rookie of the Week:
Lindsey Mahnken – Stevens Institute of Technology, Fr., GK, Bayville, N.J.
Mahnken earned a 2-1 victory for Stevens last week. The rookie goalkeeper made three saves in the lone win to help Stevens tally a conference victory.
