MXC Competes at Geneseo Invite & Paul Short Run

The Stevens Institute of Technology men's cross country program competed in the multi-divisional Paul Short Run on Saturday in Bethlehem, Pa. and placed 24th as a team out of 40 colleges.
Stevens split its squad into two different races, the 8K Brown and 8K Open, in the 41st Paul Short Run hosted by Lehigh University.
Sophomore
Nicholas Zickgraf paced the Ducks in the Brown portion of the event with a 51st place showing in a time of 25:59. In all, 341 runners maneuvered the course on Saturday.
Senior
Thomas Cunningham clocked a time of 26:11 to finish 76th overall, while freshman
Greg Arabagian completed the course next for the Ducks with a time of 26:38.
Sophomore
Abe Lahood posted a time of 27:05, and classmate
Michael John followed in 27:23.
Stevens' final two runners in the Brown race, senior
Andrew Parlette and sophomore
Chris Banko, crossed in 27:29 and 27:42, respectively.
Most of the top seven recorded personal best times.
In the Open race that consisted of 497 runners, senior
Kevin Barresi recorded the best finish with a time of 27:03.
Sophomore
Finley Simonds crossed the line in 27:37, while classmate
Michael Reilly posted a 28:02. Freshman
Adam Sisson finished the 8K in 28:09.
GENESEO INVITATIONAL RESULTS
Ithaca
The Ithaca College men's cross country team finished 14th out of 21 teams at the Geneseo Invitational on Saturday Oct. 4.
Junior
Larkin Bohanan paced the Bombers with a time of 26:28.4. He finished 49th out of 289 runners at Letchworth State Park.
Paul Lapre earned a personal best time of 26:28.4 as a sophomore, beating his previous personal best by more than 30 seconds. Lapre's time placed him 71st overall.
Sophomore
Shane Connor and senior
Steve Derderian crossed the finish line next for the Bombers in 27:27.5 and 27:36.1. Connor finished 92nd overall and Derderian finished 97th.
Sophomore
Brendan Davis recorded a 104th place finish after clocking a time of 27:55.2 on the eight-kilometer course.
Sophomore
Chris Gutierrez and senior
Anthony Altobelli rounded out Ithaca's top seven with finishes of 111th and 116th overall. Gutierrez ran a personal best time of 28:10.2 and Altobelli finished the race in 28:23.9.
Utica
The Utica College men's cross country team placed 15
th out 21 teams Saturday at the Geneseo Invitational held at the High Banks Area of Letchworth State Park. Sophomore
Josh Lee finished first for the Pioneers and 60
th overall out 289 runners.
Lee recorded a final clock of 26:43, .15 seconds ahead of classmate
Erik Winberg who placed 74
th overall and second for UC. Senior Jaime McNamara came in third for Utica with a watch of 27:24, crossing the finish line in 88
th overall.
Junior
Corey Zlatniski and freshman Karsten Bartagelata rounded out the Pioneer scoring in fourth and fifth place. Zlatniski took 91
st with a time of 27:27 while Bartagelata placed 126
th clocking a time of 29:31.
SJFC
The St. John Fisher College men's cross country team ran to a 16th-place finish with 482 points at the Geneseo Invite on Saturday.
Freshman
James Felice continued to lead the way for the Cardinals, completing the eight-kilometer course in 27:10.0, good for 77th place.
Evan Magnussen and
Alex Schmitt trailed behind, finishing at 27:24.8 and 27:46.3, respectively.
Dan Cleary (107th, 28:01.9) and
Luke Dunkelberg (110th, 28.07.5) rounded out the scoring for Fisher.
Nazareth
Nazareth finished 18th with 551 points. Freshman
Kevin Witt was the Golden Flyers' top finisher in the 8-kilometer race with a time of 27:31.1 for 141st place. Sophomore
Jacob Murray was next in 155th place (27:48.2), followed by junior
Patrick Neureuter in 176th place (28:06.3) and sophomore
Matt Battaglia in 184th place (28:17.7). Other Nazareth runners were sophomore
Ethan Osborne in 240th place (30:14.2); sophomore Tommy Lannon in 246th place (30:32.9) and freshman
Kristopher Newell in 252nd place (30:56.8).
