Ithaca Places Second At Williams

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. -- The Ithaca College women's golf team placed second in a field of 16 teams at the Williams Fall Invitational at Taconic Golf Club. The Bombers stood in third place after an opening-round score of 320, but moved up to second place with a second-round 321 for a tournament total of 641. The host school, Williams, placed first with a 624 and New York University was third at 646. Ithaca's Sunday score was eight strokes better than NYU and allowed Ithaca to move ahead of the Violets into second place. The Taconic Golf Club played to a par-71 over 5,819 yards.
 
Sharon Li finished second among all individuals with back-to-back rounds of 76 for a tournament total of 152. Shelby Shote of Williams was the tournament medalist. Kimberly Wong was Ithaca's second-best finisher and had consecutive rounds in the 70s as she opened with 79 and scored three strokes better at 76 for a tournament score of 155. She placed tied for third on the leaderboard.
 
Kelsey Baker stood fifth on the individual leaderboard after an opening-round 78 and shot 82 on Sunday. Baker was tied for eighth overall with a 160. Taylor Reeves was the fourth score in the lineup that counted each day with an 87 on both days of the tournament. Freshman Indiana Jones was Ithaca's fifth lineup member and scored 91 in the first round and 88 in the second round.

Ithaca will compete next weekend at the Pat Clouse Invitational hosted by Wittenberg. The Bombers are the defending tournament champions at that event. It will be the final tournament of the fall portion of Ithaca's schedule.
