SKILLMAN, N.Y. (October 6, 2014) – The Intercollegiate Tennis Association awarded Stevens junior
Matthew Heinrich the No. 3 seed in this week's small college national championship starting Thursday.
Heinrich will also compete for a championship in doubles with junior
Ben Foran. Featuring eight singles players and eight doubles teams, the four day championship will take place at The Palmetto Tennis Center in Sumter, S.C.
Heinrich will battle either Trinity University's junior Adam Krull or Whitman College's freshman Zach Hewlin in singles, while Heinrich and Foran will take on senior Al-Houni Motasem and sophomore Andres Saenz from Gustavus Adolphus College in doubles.
Heinrich qualified for the tournament after taking the singles crown in the Northeast Regional on Sep. 22 in Geneva, N.Y. The junior ace then teamed with Foran later that afternoon to take home the doubles title. Both championships were program firsts, and both were named ITA All-Americans as a result.
