Ithaca XC Teams Ranked Regionally
NEW ORLEANS, La. –The Ithaca College men's and women's cross country teams earned spots in the
week four regional rankings by the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association. Both teams are the only Empire 8 squads to receive recognition in the Atlantic Region.
The men's team now ranks ninth in the Atlantic region, after sitting seventh in the week one poll. The Bombers competed in two Invitiationals over the weekend.
Six members of the Ithaca College men's cross country team traveled to Lehigh University on Saturday Oct. 4 to compete in the Paul Short Collegiate Invitational, while the rest of the team competed at the Geneseo Invitational.
The Bombers ran in the Brown race and finished 19th out of 40 competing teams. Junior
Sawyer Hitchcock headed Ithaca's squad with a personal best time of 25:16, placing 12th overall out of 341 runners.
The Ithaca men finished 14th out of 21 teams at the Geneseo Invitational led by junior
Larkin Bohanan with a time of 26:28.4. He finished 49th out of 289 runners at Letchworth State Park.
The women's squad also sits ninth in the week four rankings. The Bombers earned a seventh place finish out of 19 teams on Saturday at Letchworth State Park for the Geneseo Invitational.
Seniors
Hannah Wright and
Emily Smith led the Bombers' top seven with times of 22:50.7 and 22:53.2. Wright recorded a personal best time finishing 29th out of 286 competitors. Smith crossed the finish line next to place 30th overall.
Both the men and women will compete again on Saturday, Oct. 11 at the Hamilton Invitational in Clinton, N.Y.
