Seven ECAC Athletes of the Week
Seven Empire 8 Athletic Conference student-athletes have been honored as the Corvias Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Division III Northwest, Upstate, Metro and Mid-Atlantic Athletes of the Week for their performances during the week of Sept. 29 – Oct. 6, 2014.
Field Hockey - Mid-Atlantic
Co-Offensive Players of the Week:
Hannah Mackey - Utica College, Sr., F, Locke, N.Y.
Mackey added four goals and three assists in a 2-0 week for the pioneers. She netted two goals in the Pioneers 5-1 win over Nazareth College. The senior also came up big on Wednesday in Utica's 8-2 win over Hamilton College, adding two goals and three assists. ?
Women’s Cross Country - Upstate Region
Runner of the Week:
Amy Regan- Stevens Institute of Technology, Jr., Green Brook, N.J.
Regan bested the field of 360 runners throughout all three NCAA Divisions at the Paul Short Run hosted by Lehigh University on Saturday. Regan ran a time of 20:42 and beat the next closest competitor by nearly one minute on the 6K Brown course. ?
Volleyball - Metro/Upstate
Co-Players of the Week
Maria Allocco – Nazareth College, Sr., MB, Ballston Lake, N.Y.
Allocco led the Golden Flyers to three Empire 8 victories last week after hitting .543 with 61 total kills. In a five-set victory over St. John Fisher, Allocco recorded a career-best 24 kills for a .542 hitting percentage. In two 3-1 victories over Elmira and Hartwick, the middle blocker notched 16 and 21 kills, respectively.?
Rookie of the Week
Kayla Gromen – Ithaca College, Fr., S, Lancaster, Pa.
Gromen dished out 104 assists in three Ithaca victories last week. The rookie averaged 10.4 assists per set and added 16 digs as Ithaca defeated Alfred, Utica and Houghton.??
Football - Northwest
Special Teams Player of the Week
Trevon Perez-Tucker, Ithaca, Freshman, DB, Schenectady, N.Y.
Perez-Tucker contributed on both sides of special teams play in the 27-10 win over Utica. He blocked a punt in the third quarter that Ithaca returned for a touchdown. Perez-Tucker also had three kickoff returns for 55 yards, a punt return for 14 yards, as well as a tackle on kickoff coverage and another on punt coverage.?
Women’s Soccer - Upstate
Offensive Player of the Week:
Raba Nassif- Stevens Institute of Technology, So., F, Northvale, N.J.
Nassif notched three goals with an assist in a 2-0 week for Stevens. In a 6-1 win over Eastern on September 30, Nassif played a part in three goals scored by the Ducks in 11 minutes. She first assisted on one and then scored the next two. Against nationally ranked No. 20 Ithaca, she tallied the game-winner in a 1-0 defeat.
Defensive Player of the Week:
Alley Maurer- Hartwick College, Fr., GK, Jackson, N.J.
Maurer did not allow a goal in 135 minutes in two wins for the Hawks. She registered a career-best eight saves against Houghton in a 1-0 victory on Saturday.
