Hartwick Cruises To Victories Over Naz
ONEONTA, NY – Hartwick's swimming and diving teams combined for 23 victories in the day's 28 swimming events in wins over visiting teams from Nazareth College at The Sally Grifffith Herbert '88 Aquatics Center Saturday. The 'Wick women (3-2) took 10 events to race to a 163-119 victory over the Golden Flyers. The Hartwick men (4-1) only dropped one swimming event on the afternoon in a 177-108 triumph.
Sophomore
Kelsey Elliott (Cortland, NY/Homer) won two individual events and she combined with her teammates for two more in relay events to pace the Hawks. Junior
Imma Rutigliano (Tillson, NY/John A. Coleman) registered two winning swims and combined for one more.
Elliott took the sprint free events, winning the 50 free in 26 seconds flat and the 100 free in 56.48. Rutigliano won both the 200 free (2:02.06) and the 200 IM (2:19.26).
The duo would also join sophomore
Ally Agate (Hamburg, NY/Hamburg) and senior
Kaitlyn Campbell (Bartlett, IL/Glenbard North) for a victory in the 200 free relay (1:46.37). Elliott, Agate, sophomore
Morgan Riggins (Austin, TX/Dripping Springs) and freshman
Maddy Hayes (Eagan, MN/Eagan) also won the 200 medley relay in 1:57.65.
Agate and Hayes also picked up individual wins. Agate was first in the 100 back (1:04.28) with Hayes taking the 100 fly (1:04.80) event.
Senior
Gwen Mathias (Sunland, CA/Southwestern Academy) registered a victory in the 500 free in a time of 5:27.46. Junior
Helen Merkley (Guilderland, NY/Guilderland) had a first-place swim in the 200 back (2:16.94).
On the men's side, eight different Hawks recorded at least one individual victory. Senior
Miles Blaney (New York, NY/NYC Lab School), junior
Ben Detar (Charleston, SC/Hanahan), and sophomore
Luis Santiesteban (Key Largo, FL/Coral Shores) each earned two for 'Wick.
Blaney earned top honors in the 200 free (1:45.77) and the 500 free (4:54.38). Detar won the 200 fly (1:58.25) and 100 fly (54.58) events. Santiesteban was first in the 100 free (49.08) and 200 IM (2:01.81).

Matt Plunkett (Cooper City, FL/Cooper City), and senior
Kris Sanders (Tillsonburg, ONT/St. Mary's) all secured wins for the Hawks.
Quinn won the 1000 free (10:20.91) with Day taking the 100 breast (1:03.26). Edmister sprinted to a win in the 50 free (23.03) with Plunkett winning the 200 back (1:56.69) and Sanders topping the field in the 200 breast (2:20.58).

Joe Mulvehill (Penfield, NY/Penfield) combined to win the 200 medley relay. Mulvehill, Edmister, Plunkett, and
Zac Whitenack (Watertown, NY/General Brown) took the 200 free relay in 1:30.61.
Hartwick swimming and diving has back-to-back meets next weekend. The Hawks host SUNY Oneonta on Saturday, November 15. They then travel to RPI the following day.
