Fredonia edges AU men’s swimming and diving team
ALFRED, NY – Visiting Fredonia defeated the Alfred University men's swimming and diving team, 258-225, Friday evening in Lebohner Pool.
Seniors
David Coombes (Dansville, NY/Dansville) and
Zac Toth (Lockport, NY/Starpoint) each earned a pair of individual wins for the Saxons (1-2), who swept the relays. Coombes won the 100 freestyle (47.65) and 200 free (1:46.65) and Toth took the 200 individual medley (2:01.68) and 500 free (5:06.43).
Senior
David Luke (Ocala, FL/West Port) won the 50 free (21.14) and swam on both winning relays. Freshman
Alec Toth (Lockport, NY/Starpoint), senior
Jeff Rowland (Rochester, NY/Hilton), Zac Toth and Luke won the 200 medley relay (1:41.34), while Luke, senior
Joseph Rogers (Dublin, NH), freshman
Joseph Lawrence (Clarence Center, NY/Clarence) and Coombes won the 200 free relay (1:27.77).
Other top swimmers for AU were:
Alec Toth, second in the 1,000 free (10:31.88) and 200 fly (2:04.36); Rogers, second in the 200 free (1:48.46) and 500 free (5:10.93); Lawrence, second in the 50 free (22.59); and freshman
Matthew Watterson (Westerville, OH/Worthington Christian), second in the 200 fly (2:12.45).
