Toth's Late Goal Sends Houghton to NCCAA East Region Title Game

LANCASTER, Pa. -- Jared Toth (Victor, NY, Victor) headed in the game-winner to give #3 seed Houghton men's soccer a 1-0 win over #2 Lancaster Bible College in the NCCAA East Region Semifinals.

The Highlanders outshot the Chargers 21-5, but needed almost 79 minutes to get one in the net.

Houghton had an 8-0 shots advantage in the first half and 13-5 after the break. Toth broke through in the 79th minute, following up on a shot by Kevin Miranda (Jupiter, FL, Jupiter) and putting his header past the Chargers keeper. It was Toth's team-leading seventh goal of the year.

Jacob Dunnett (Quispamsis, New Brunswick, Kennebecasis) made three stops in goal for his eighth shutout of the campaign.

With the win, the Highlanders (9-8-2) advance to the NCCAA East Region Final against Roberts Wesleyan College on Saturday, Nov. 22. It will mark a rematch of an October 28 contest that the Highlanders won 4-0. The Redhawks (10-6-2) are the region's top seed. The winner will advance to the NCCAA National Championship Tournament in Kissimmee, Fla., December 1-6.

Lancaster Bible finishes their season with a record of 12-7-1.
