Houghton Closes Season at NCCAA Nationals
HOUGHTON, N.Y. -- Joanna Friesen finished 25th out of 180 runners to lead the Highlander women's cross country team to the 13th spot at the 2014 NCCAA Cross Country National Championship on Saturday at Houghton.
Friesen and her teammates had the home course advantage as Houghton will serve as host for the event at the Field of Dreams in 2014 and 2015.
The sophomore turned in a time of 19:31.9. Teammate Cara Davenport was 57th in 20:18.5. Judith Marklin finished the 5K course in 21:18.1 and Rachel Hummel was right behind in 21:20.7 for 96th and 98th place, respectively. Christel Enriquez-Fisher was 105th in 21:31.3, Ella Hotchkiss was 123rd in 22:00.9 and Katrina Relyea was 140th in 22:25.9.
In the men's race, Luke DeBoer was the only qualifier for the Highlanders and finished in 116th out of 195 runners in 28:48.4.
