Farmingdale 70, ELMIRA 66
The Elmira College men's basketball team, unlike the previous night, found themselves leading by two with nine minutes remaining in the second half. Unfortunately for EC, a nearly six-minute stretch without a field goal led to hole that they could not comeback from as Elmira fell 70-66 to Farmingdale State to close out the Oswego State Tip-Off Classic.

EC, for the second consecutive night, had three players score in double-figures and all three were different than the night before. Leading the way were second-year guard Oladapo Badmos '17, who scored 12 points and also recorded a team-high six assists, and Justin Henderson '16, who had 12 points, on four three-pointers, off the bench. Coming in just behind Badmos and Henderson was David Borelli '15 who turned in a well-rounded game of 11 points, six rebounds, and two steals.

The Soaring Eagles used back-to-back-to-back three-pointers from Hayden Harkins'18 and Neil Randolph'15, twice, to jump out to 10-2 lead just three minutes into the contest. EC continued its strong play, stretching the lead out to 11 on two occasions, but a 12-0 run from the Rams gave Farmingdale a 18-17 lead with 9:02 to go in the first half.

Henderson ended the run with the first of his four three-pointers to put his team back on top by two and started an 9-2 run that saw Elmira go back up by six, 26-20. EC maintained the lead, which fluctuated between three and six points, for the remainder of the half as the Soaring Eagles went into the locker rooms with a 33-29 advantage.

Elmira held onto the lead through the beginning stages of the second half, but Farmingdale would go on a run to take their first lead in over 14 minutes of game-time at 40-39. Back-to-back three-pointers from Henderson gave the lead back to the Soaring Eagles, a lead in which they held until Farmingdale's Trey Kinard tied the game at 51 apiece with 8:52 to play. That basket was part of a 10-0 run that put the Rams up by six.

Borelli snapped the scoring run with a layup, making it 57-53, with 6:35 to play, but that would be the last field goal that EC would score for five minutes of gameplay as their only scoring came from free throws. The Soaring Eagles, down seven with two minutes to play, had their scoring drought ended by a Randolph layup and EC rallied to make it a three-point game with 1:21 remaining. That would be as close as the Purple and Gold would get as Farmingdale made 3-of-4 free throws down the stretch to close out the 70-66 win.

Oswego 60, HARTWICK 50
Hartwick had a tough night shooting the basketball in a 60-50 loss to the host Oswego State Lakers in the final game of the Max Ziel Tournament. The Hawks, who managed 12 three-pointers in yesterday's win over Farmingdale State, connected on only five of their 33 attempts from beyond the arc Sunday. The loss drops the Hawks' record to 1-1 heading into Wednesday night's game at Division I Binghamton.

Matt Wilson had a double-double with game- and career-highs of 17 points and 17 rebounds to pace the Hawks.

The Lakers got off to a good start as they took a 9-2 lead after three and a half minutes. Their advantage grew to 10 points, 16-6, at the 12:16 mark on a Dustin Pond three-pointer.

Later, an 8-0 surge made the Hartwick deficit 16 points, 25-9, with under seven minutes remaining in the first half. The Hawks would rally, however, with a 14-2 run to close the gap to four, 27-23, at the half. Five different Hawks would contribute points in the spurt, led by Justin Pratt's six points on two straight three-pointers in the final 1:23.

The Hawks scored six of the second half's first eight points to draw even at 29-29 two and a half minutes in. The Lakers maintained a slim lead for the next seven minutes of the game but an 11-0 Oswego run in three and a half minutes would hand the hosts a 50-36 lead with six and a half minutes to play. The Lakers shot 4-of-7 from the field in the span while the Hawks were 0-for-3 with three turnovers.

The Hawks cut the Laker advantage to eight points on a three-point play from Wilson with 4:42 left, but five straight points by Oswego over the next three minutes made it a double-digit game which they maintained until the final horn.

Joey Lufkin contributed nine points and five rebounds in the game for Hartwick. Pratt finished with six points and seven boards. Matt Petruccione scored seven points and freshman Jake Sinicki added five points and four rebounds.

Oswego had three players in double figures led by Brian Sortino's 14 points. Rashawn Powell scored 12 points and added 10 rebounds and Pond finished with 11 and seven.

Brooklyn 82, STEVENS 67
The Stevens Institute of Technology men's basketball team dropped its 2014-15 season-opener to Brooklyn College Sunday night at the Canavan Arena, falling by a score of 82-67.

Brooklyn improves to 1-1 with the win, while the Ducks drop to 0-1.

The Ducks struggled in the first period, shooting just 21.4 percent from the field and 3-for-15 from long range. They played solid on the defensive end to remain in the game, holding the Bulldogs to 35.5 percent shooting and 26.7 percent from deep (4-for-15).

Stevens jumped out to an early 11-8 lead on the back of solid free-throw shooting and a three-pointer from sophomore forward Otis Osman. The two teams went back-and-forth over the next several minutes before the guests turned at 14-14 deadlock into a 30-21 halftime lead, outscoring Stevens 16-7 over the final 9:44 of the half.

Brooklyn extended its lead to 14 at 17:46 of the second and led 43-30 with 14:51 left before the Ducks made a run to get back in it. Junior forward Alex Lorenz completed a three-point play to make it a 10-point game, and a triple from sophomore guard Patrick Barron brought Stevens within seven.

The guests called timeout to slow the building Stevens momentum, and quickly answered with six-straight points to get the lead back to 12 with 11:50 remaining.

The Ducks were able to claw back within nine at 63-54 at the nine-minute mark but could get no closer, eventually falling by an 82-67 final.

Stevens finished shooting 36.9 percent from the field (24-for-65), 7-for-23 (30.4 percent) from deep and 12-for-18 at the line (66.7 percent). Brooklyn held a 42-40 edge on the glass as the Ducks tallied 16 assists compared to 14 for the Bulldogs.

Osman finished with 20 points on 11 shots, three rebounds and two assists, while Barron had 14 points, including 4-for-7 from long range. He added a team-high six rebounds to his line. Lorenz had 13 points and four rebounds.
