AU dunks Pitt-Bradford, 113-85

BRADFORD, PA — The Alfred University men's swimming and diving team claimed a 113-85 decision from host Pitt-Bradford Saturday afternoon, giving the Saxons their second dual-meet win in as many days.

The Saxons followed up their win over visiting Fredonia Friday evening by winning six individual events and one relay, improving to 3-1 on the year. Senior Joseph Rogers (Dublin, NH) and sophomore Patrick Brown (Olean NY/Olean) were double winners for the Saxons. Rogers won the 1,000 freestyle (10:50.64) and 500 free (5:07.53); Brown won the 50 free (23.40) and 100 free (52.42).

Other event winners for Alfred were: freshman Alec Toth (Lockport, NY/Starpoint), in the 200 free (1:51.55), and senior Zac Toth (Lockport, NY/Starpoint), in the 200 butterfly (2:02.43).

Zac Toth, sophomore Derek Ciraolo (Grand Island, NY/St. Joseph's), Brown and Alec Toth won the 400 free relay (3:24.98).

Other top performers for Alfred were: senior Jeff Rowland (Rochester, NY/Hilton), second in the 500 free (5:29.69) and 200 breast (2:31.88); freshman Jack Traynor (Westminster, NY/Winters Mills), second in the 200 free (1:56.85); freshman Joseph Lawrence (Clarence Center, NY/Clarence), second in the 50 free (23.82); Ciraolo, second in the 100 free (53.13); and Alec Toth, second in the 200 backstroke (2:06.75).

AU is in action next Dec. 5-7 at the Ithaca College Invitational.
