AU defeats Pitt-Bradford, 126-67

BRADFORD, PA — The Alfred University women's swimming and diving team took a 126-67 decision from host Pitt-Bradford Saturday afternoon. AU won seven individual events and swept the two relays in bouncing back from Friday evening's loss at home to Fredonia.

Sophomore Dylan Staniszewski (Oakton, VA/Oakton) and junior Kelsey McRill (Solon, OH/Solon) each won two events to lead the Saxons, who improved to 2-4 in dual meets on the season. Staniszewski won the 400 individual medley in 4:56.0 and the 100 free in 55.37 seconds. McRill won the in the 50 free (26.51) and 500 free (6:06.01).

Other events winners for AU were: senior Chrissy Behr (Surf City, NJ/Southern Regional) in the 200 free (2:04.33); sophomore Samantha Brown (Spencerport, NY/Spencerport) in the 200 butterfly (2:33.76); and senior Molly Blair (Auburn, NY/Auburn) in the 200 breaststroke (2:48.46).

The AU team of freshman Megan Steen (Portsmouth, RI/Portsmouth), Blair, sophomore Leah Zimmerman (Canandaigua, NY/Canandaigua) and Brown won the 400 medley relay (4:30.29), while Behr, freshman Elizabeth Schiffhauer (West Seneca, NY/West Seneca East), McRill and Staniszewski won the 400 free relay in 3:49.04.

Other top performers for AU were: Schiffhauer, second in the 200 free (2:09.04); Blair, second in the 50 free (28.41); Behr, second in the 100 free (55.69); Steen, second in the 200 back (2:23.78); freshman Jordan Little (Odessa, NY/Odessa-Montour), second in the 500 free (6:16.33); and senior Alyssa Fuller (Alfred Station, NY/Alfred-Almond), second in the 200 breast (2:59.31).

AU is in action next Dec. 5-7 at the Ithaca College Invitational.
