Wells 78, ALFRED 60
The AU women's basketball team was bested by the Wells College Express, 78-60, in the Wednesday evening non-conference match up.
 
The Saxons were unable to notch their first win of the season against the Wells College Express despite forcing 21 turnovers in the game.  Senior Harley Cleary led the Saxons with 18 points, while Amanda Off added 17 points, 13 rebounds, and five steals.
 
AU got out ahead of the Express early and maintained the lead until late in the first half.  The largest margin the Saxon held was 8 points with just over ten minutes to go in the first half.  The success of the Saxons came on the back of turnovers, where they held the advantage until the second half.  Wells took the lead with 3:11 left, and would not look back.  At half, Wells College was up, 37-33.
 
Following the intermission, the Express shooters came to life making 60% of their shots and putting up 41 points in the second half.  AU struggled from deep, only making 3 of 21(14.3%) shots from behind the arc, while Wells shot 4 of 13 (30.8%).  As the final horn sounded, Wells College was on top, 78-60.
 
Multiple Saxons were spreading the ball around on the evening, as Emilea HarrisonHailey Sickand McKaylee Croll each had three assists.

 

RPI 72, UTICA 58
The Utica College women's basketball team lost to host RPI 72-58 in non-conference action Wednesday night. Utica's Christy Traglia netted a team-high 16 points and added eight rebounds. Kelcei Edmonds added 12 points on 4-of-6 shooting from the floor while pulling in five rebounds.

Bridget GreenwaldMary Miceli and Samantha Stayer each added eight points for the Pioneers (1-2). RPI (2-1) was led by 24 points and 12 rebounds from junior Ashley Clough, while Amanda Lynch added 15 points and 10 rebounds.

After falling into an early 4-0 hole the Pioneers used an 8-0 run in a span of 1:36 to take a 8-4 lead less than two minute into the contest.  Greenwald led the opening surge with four points.

The Pioneers outscored RPI 15-14 in the next 12:04 of action to take a 22-19 lead with 4:28 to go in the first half of play.  Traglia led the Pioneers with seven points in the stretch.

The Engineers finished the first half on a 14-3 run to take a 33-25 lead at the half. Courtney Reynolds led the home teams charge with six points as they held UC to just 1-of-8 shooting in the span of 4:19.

RPI opened the second half on a 15-8 run in a span of 6:49 to earn a 48-33 lead with 13:30 to go in regulation. Utica put together a quick 7-0 run in a span of 1:07 to cut their deficit to 48-40 with 12:23 to go.  Freshman Ashley Mayo sparked the run with a 3-pointer for UC.

RPI answered with another 12-5 run in the next 5:52, holding UC to 2-of-11 shooting in the stretch, to take a 15 point lead, 60-45, with 6:31 left.

The Pioneers put together one more run to cut their deficit to eight points with 29 seconds left, but that was as close as they would get, and RPI made their free throws down the stretch to earn the 14 point win.
