400-Medley Relay Shines on Day 1 of F&M Invite for Stevens

LANCASTER, Pa. (November 22, 2014)
– The Stevens Institute of Technology women's swimming team – ranked No. 8 nationally – opened competition at the 2014 Franklin & Marshall College Invitational on Friday.
 
The Ducks are currently in third place as a team with 96 tallies. Washington & Lee University is second and DI Mount Saint Mary's (Md.) is in first (132).
 
The team of freshman Meghan Randle, sophomore Nicole Regenauer, senior Sharon Rooker and junior Katlyn Christenson teamed to take 10th place, opening the meet with 14 team points. Junior Elizabeth Heinbach was third in the mile swim with a time of 17:53.83 and earning 16 points in a solid performance.
 
Closing out the opening session and Day 1 as a whole, the 400-yard medley relay team just missed an NCAA B-cut, winning the event and notching 40 team points. The team of Rooker, senior Brittany Geyer, senior Maria McClure and senior April Lawson turned in a 3:53.73, setting a new F&M Invitational record in taking the top spot.
 
Saturday's session one will feature the prelims for seven different events and will begin at 9 a.m. The finals will begin at 6 p.m. as a total of 11 colleges and universities vie for the F&M Invite Title.
