Stevens in First After Day 1 at F&M Invite; Ducks Set Three Meet Records

LANCASTER, Pa. (November 22, 2014) – The No. 6 Stevens Institute of Technology men's swimming team is in first place after one day of competition at the Franklin & Marshall College Invitational.
The Ducks broke three meet records (in three events), tallied two NCAA B-cuts and a new F&M pool record in an excellent showing to start the three-day championship-style meet.
Freshman

Tomasz Wolinski opened the meet well, setting and F&M Invite record by winning the 200-yard freestyle relay with a time of 1:23.89. The first brought in 40 team points. The team of junior

David Duque and senior Alex Shu finished fourth in the same event, carding a 1:26.75 and picking up 30 team points.
Freshman
Connor Harrigan turned in a great swim in the mile, tallying the Ducks' first NCAA B-cut of the year and setting a new meet record with a 15:59.94. The rookie finished in first place and scored 20 team markers.
Putting a bow on the first session and Day 1 was the 400-yard medley relay team, Sun, Lefeber, Rees and Wolinski combined for an NCAA B-cut, a new F&M pool record and meet record, clocking a 3:23.91 to bring in 40 team points. Stevens' 'B' group was excellent as well, taking second place with a 3:28.74 and tallying 34 points.
The Ducks are currently in first place with 164 points as a total of nine teams scored Friday night. Washington & Lee University (118) is in second and Ramapo is third (112).
Saturday's session one will feature the prelims for seven different events and will begin at 9 a.m. The finals will begin at 6 p.m.
