Stevens in Lead After Two Days at F&M Invite

LANCASTER, Pa. (November 23, 2014) – The eighth-ranked Stevens Institute of Technology women's swimming team is in first place after the second of three days of action at the Franklin & Marshall College Invitational.
The Ducks have a slight 443-424 lead over Washington & Lee University. Mount Saint Mary's (Md.) is in third with 342 points as 11 teams are competing.
Prelims
Senior
Jennifer Rutledge was Stevens' top-finisher in the 50-yard freestyle, carding a 24.84 and placing third. Junior
Elizabeth Heinbach was first in the 400-IM, clocking an NCAA B-cut time of 4:34.88 as freshman Kaitlyn Prescott's 4:43.58 was good for fourth. Senior
Maria McClure was one one-hundredth of a second away from a B-cut in the 100-yard butterfly, turning in a 57.32 which was good for first place, and freshman
Sarah Jurczyk was fifth.
Sophomore
Danielle Caruso nabbed the top-spot in the 200-yard freestyle, tallying an NCAA B-cut with a 1:52.29. Her time was good for a new F&M Invite record. Senior
Brittany Geyer and sophomore Kaitlyn Prescott went one-two in the 200-yard breaststroke, with Geyer's time of 2:17.47 being good for a new meet-record and NCAA B-cut.
Senior
Sharon Rooker led the Ducks' backstrokers in the 100, taking fifth place with a 59.64.
The 800-yard freestyle relay team closed the second session (of five total) by placing second with a 7:44.62. The group brought in 34 team points as the 800-free relay does not have prelims.

Junior
April Lawson, Rutledge and senior
Nicole Miller went five-six-seven in the 50-yard freestyle, combining for 39 points. Heinbach held serve with another (better) B-cut in the 400-IM, taking first with her 4:32.19. Prescott was fifth, putting 14 markers on the board.
McClure's 57.21 was good for second in the 100-yard butterfly, and more importantly was good for an NCAA B-cut as Jurczyk and Rooker went four and seven.
Caruso set another meet record thanks to a 1:52.17, improving her NCAA cut time in the process. Miller ended up taking eighth as the pair recorded 31 points.
Geyer was first in the 200-yard breaststroke, followed by Prescott in second and junior
Katlyn Christenson in seventh place as Rooker's sixth (59.85) in the 100-back final earned the team 14 points. Freshman
Sarah Hoogenboom picked up 11 by taking eighth in the 100-back.
In the day's final event, the 200-yard medley relay team of Rooker, Geyer, McClure and Lawson teamed for a 1:48.24 and second place (34 points).
The third and final day of action at F&M is Sunday with the prelims starting at 9 a.m.
