Ithaca Moves Up to No. 16 in National Poll
USA Today/WBCA Top 25 Poll
ITHACA, N.Y. – After the first week of the 2014-15 season, the Ithaca College women's basketball team has vaulted up to No. 16 in the USA Today/WBCA Top 25 Poll which was released on Nov. 25. Ithaca was ranked 22nd nationally in the preseason poll on Nov. 4.
The Bombers have won all three of their contests so far this year by an average of 18 points. They began the season with a 74-63 victory over William Smith College at home on the 15th and then took down John Jay College on the 21st by an 80-40 decision. On the following afternoon, Ithaca claimed the Messiah Tip-Off Classic championship with a 53-50 come-from-behind triumph over host Messiah College.
Ithaca received 59 points in the rankings to narrowly beat out Saint Mary's University (Minn.) for 16th, and sit behind Wheaton College (Ill.) at No. 15, who earned 79 points.
Ten players are averaging over 3.0 points per game for the Bombers so far this season, and five are over 7.3 per outing.
Ithaca travels to
John Carroll University on Sunday, Nov. 30 for a 1 p.m. tip-off. The Bombers then head to SUNY Cortland on Dec. 2 for a 7:30 p.m. contest.
