Foley and Thomas Earn CoSIDA Academic Honors
Men's soccer standouts Ryan Foley and Jeff Thomas have been honored as a
CoSIDA/Capital One Academic All-District 3 honoree for 2014. The teams were selected through voting conducted by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
District 3 is made up of colleges and universities in New York State. Foley and Thomas are now eligible for consideration for CoSIDA/Capital One Academic All-American honors; CoSIDA will announce its Division III Academic All-American teams Nov. 21.
The CoSIDA academic honors program takes into consideration excellence in the classroom and on the playing field. Student-athletes are eligible if they have a grade point average of at least 3.30.
Foley, a graduate student midfielder, completed the 2014 season as Nazareth's leading scorer with eight goals and three assists for 19 points. In the classroom, Foley has a 3.82 grade-point average as a Physical Therapy major.
Thomas, a first-year graduate student in the AU Master of Business Administration program, earned a bachelor's degree in political science in May with a cumulative undergraduate GPA of 3.62.
Thomas, a two-time Empire 8 Conference all-star, has a team-leading eight goals and 19 points (eight goals, three assists) for a Saxon squad that is 9-7-2 overall. AU finished with a 3-3-1 Empire 8 record and qualified as the fourth seed in the four-team conference championship tournament.
