Nazareth and Ithaca in NSCAA National Poll

The Nazareth College and Ithaca College women's soccer teams are representing the Empire 8 in the national rankings.  The Golden Flyers stand at No. 16, followed by the Bombers at No. 18 in the latest release of the National Soccer Coaches Association of America National Poll.

Nazareth moved up three spots to No. 16 following a 1-0-1 week. The Golden Flyers played to a 0-0 tie with nationally-ranked William Smith on Tuesday and then used a pair of second-half goals to overcome an early deficit Saturday to edge Skidmore, 2-1.

Next up for the Golden Flyers is a trip to Ithaca for the Empire 8 Conference Touranment. As the second seed, Nazareth plays third-seeded Stevens Friday at 1:30 p.m. 

Ithaca (13-3, 7-1) fell four spots to No. 18 after a 0-1 week. The Bombers dropped a 3-2 overtime match to nationally-ranked Misericordia on Wednesday. 

Ithaca will host the Empire 8 playoffs this weekend at Carp Wood Field. This marks the third-straight year and the fourth time in the past six seasons that Ithaca has hosted the conference tournament. The winner of the tournament will earn automatic qualification to the NCAA Division III Women's Soccer Championships later this month. Ithaca will play fourth-seeded St. John Fisher at 11 a.m. on Friday.
