Ithaca Dominates William Smith In Midweek Meet

ITHACA, N.Y. – The Ithaca College women's swimming & diving team had a dominating performance Wednesday, defeating visiting William Smith by a score of 190-47 at the A&E Center Aquatics Pavilion. The Bombers finished first in all 13 events.
 
Ithaca opened the midweek meet with a victory in the 200-yard medley relay. The team of Kylie Bangs, Grace Ayer, Christine Zulkosky and Lyndsay Isaksen placed first with a time of 1:54.08, just beating out the Herons' second-place time of 1:54.43.
 
Ayer and Zulkosky both went on to strong individual performances later in the meet, starting with Ayer's first place finish in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 25.77. Zulkosky followed with the top spot in the 200-yard individual medley, as she touched first in a time of 2:20.75.
 
Ithaca's sweep of the distance events started with Brenna Dowd's time of 11:24.75 in the 1000-yard freestyle. Catherine Tompkins followed with a first place finish in the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 5:23.10.
 
Nickie Griesemer earned two top finishes in diving. She took first on the 1-meter springboard with a score of 261.10, before placing first at 3-meters with a score of 258.00.
 
Lake Duffy continued her strong season with a first-place finish in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 2:02.75.  Other individual top finishes included Nilza Costa at 100-yard butterfly (1:02.97), Megan Buisman in the 100-yard freestyle (56.99), Samantha Reilly in the 100-yard backstroke (1:03.75) and Cori Ghidotti in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:14.02).
 
The Bombers closed the meet with their second relay victory of the night, placing first in the 200-yard freestyle relay. The team of Erin Hackett, Isaksen, Cassie Papaleo and Duffy touched first with a time of 1:44.40.
 
Ithaca returns to action on Saturday, Nov. 8 for a road meet at Cortland. Start time is scheduled for 1 p.m.
