Nine Receive ECAC Division III Upstate Honors
Nine Empire 8 Athletic Conference (E8) women's soccer athletes have been named to the 2014 Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC)
Division III Upstate Women's Soccer All-Star Teams.
FIRST TEAM
Tyler Carr started regularly on defense for the Golden Flyers in 2014 and helped the team post a goals-against average of 0.80 with 11 shutouts. She was a first-team Empire 8 Conference all-star as well as the E8's Defensive Player of the Year. In addition, she was named MVP of the Empire 8 Conference Tournament after Nazareth advanced past Ithaca on penalty kicks.
Michaela Soules was a first-team Empire 8 Conference all-star who started at center midfield. She led the Golden Flyers in assists with 11 and was second overall in scoring with 21 points, including five goals.
Kelsey King started all 20 of the Bombers' games. She was named to the All-Empire 8 First Team, marking her second-straight all-conference nod. She led the Bombers in nearly every offensive category, pacing the team with 14 goals, combining with five assists for a team-high 33 points. Her season point total marked a career best, and ranked third in the Empire 8. She also scored six game-winning goals in 2014, giving her the most in the conference. King recorded three multi-goal games during the year, and was 1-for-1 on penalty kicks. Earlier this season, King was named to the NSCAA All-East Region First Team.
Raba Nassif played in 20 games on the front line for the Ducks. Nassif led the Ducks with 18 goals and 40 points.
SECOND TEAM
Aimee Chimera started all 20 games for the Bombers on defense, making her one of only eight players on the roster to start every contest. She helped limit the opposition to just 15 goals over the course of the season, and was a part of 11 shutouts throughout the year. The Bomber defense allowed just .75 goals-per-game last season, earning Chimera All-Empire 8 First Team honors and a spot on the NSCAA All-East Region Second Team. This marks her first career ECAC All-Star Team selection.
Kaitlyn Sowyrda started every game for the Golden Flyers on defense and helped the team post 11 shutout wins. She contributed one goal and two assists this season.
Christine Belding led the Golden Flyers in scoring in 2014 as a starting outside midfielder. She amassed 24 points on 10 goals and four assists to complete her career with 18 goals and 12 assists.
Briana Vibbard started regularly for the Golden Flyers in 2014 and ranked third on the team in scoring with 18 points on seven goals and four assists. Her career numbers include 11 goals and seven assists.
Coppolecchia started every game in goal for the Bombers in 2014, giving her an impressive 15-4-1 record. She ranked second in the Empire 8 with a .751 goals-against average, while her 10 shutouts marked the most in the conference. She recorded a .854 save percentage and made 88 saves throughout the season. Her effort earned her a spot on the All-Empire 8 First Team, and the NSCAA All-East Region First Team.
