Fenti and Bradley Earn Top 2014 ECAC Division III North Football Honors 12/30/2014 12:48:00 PM The Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) has announced its 2014 Division III North Football All-Star teams. St. John Fisher College senior quarterback Tyler Fenti (Honeoye Falls, N.Y.) has been named Offensive Player of the Year, while Ithaca College freshman linebacker Kenneth Bradley (Jackson, N.J.) earned Defensive Rookie of the Year accolades. Representatives from ECAC Division III North member institutions completed the voting Fenti, who was also named the Empire 8 Offensive Player of the Year for the second consecutive year, helped guide the Cardinals to an 8-2 mark in the regular season. The Honeoye Falls native finished with 2,127 yards passing and 23 touchdowns in 2014. Fenti concludes his career ranked third all-time in school history in completions (424), yards (5516), and attempts (667), while ranking second in completion percentage (63.6) and fourth in touchdown passes (47). Last season, Fenti was also selected as an ECAC All-Star, earning a spot on the second team. Bradley, the Empire 8 Rookie of the Year, enjoyed a stellar first season at Ithaca. Starting the final 10 games of the season, Bradley ranked second on the team with 81 total tackles and led the Bombers with 47 solo stops. Bradley was Empire 8 Defensive Player of the Week and ECAC Northwest Rookie of the Week following his 10-tackle performance in a victory at Alfred University on September 27. FIRST TEAM Zach Shipley joined Fenti on the first team, after helping pave the way for the Fisher ground attack which rattled off 228 yards per game. Fisher gained 455 yards of total offense and 37 points per game, which ranked 35th and 37th, respectively in the nation. Utica junior Nick Woodman had a breakout season, as he led the Empire 8 and set a new school-record for sacks in a single season with 12. He ranked 14th nationally in sacks per game (1.05) and fourth in the Empire 8 in tackles for a loss per game (1.2). He also led the Empire 8 and finished 10th nationally with three fumble recoveries. He finished the year ranked third on the team with 62 tackles (30 solo). He added three pass break ups and one forced fumble. He registered a career-high three sacks in the Pioneers 31-21 road win over Buffalo State this year. Mike Doherty, a senior wide receiver, garnered first team recognition after leading the Empire 8 with a Buffalo State school record 62 catches, and also had a league-best 1,144 receiving yards and 1,877 all-purpose yards. He scored 10 touchdowns and finished his career as the school's all-time leader with 176 receptions. He also owns school records for catches in a game (15 in the ECAC Southwest Bowl), kickoff returns in a career (97), kickoff return yards in a career (2,261), and all-purpose yards in a game (419), season (1,877) and career (5,554). Shaq Frederick, a junior linebacker, was also first team as he led the E8 with 118 tackles, including 6.5 for loss and 2.5 sacks. Frederick also had an interception, a pair of forced fumbles and a fumble recovery, helping pace a Bengals' defense that led the league with 31 takeaways, including a conference-best 18 interceptions. Kyle Hamby, a senior punter, ranked sixth in the nation, and led the Empire 8 Athletic Conference, with a 42.1-yard average per punt, being called on 45 times while landing 11 of those kicks inside the 20-yard line for Salisbury. Hamby closed his career with more than 7,300 yards in punts, which rank second in program history. SECOND TEAM Bryant Moore proved to be a ball hawk on defense for the Cardinals, tallying a team-high 82 tackles on the year. The defensive back finished the season with two interceptions and 1.5 sacks. Andrew Benvenuto, a senior right guard, was part of an offensive line that helped Ithaca average more than 330 yards of offense per game. Ithaca ranked in the top-25 nationally in time of possession and in the top-50 in passing efficiency. He was an Empire 8 First Team pick in 2014 one year after earning second team in 2013. Joe Ricotta, a three-time all-conference pick was an Empire 8 First Team player in 2014. He was a second-team pick in 2013 and earned honorable mention in 2012. Ricotta had 40 tackles for Ithaca, seven tackles for loss, and three sacks in 2014. He also had two fumble recoveries. Marquis Artis, a junior defensive back for Buffalo State, was named to the second team at linebacker after being named the Empire 8 Defensive Player of the Year and third team All-American. He finished fifth in the E8 in tackles with 99, including nine tackles for a loss and three sacks. He came away with two interceptions, broke up seven passes, forced four fumbles and had six games of 10 or more tackles this season. Rich Pete, a senior running back, found the end zone 14 times and set a Buffalo State record with 42 career scores. He became the first Bengal back to rush for 1,000 yards since 2003, finishing with 1,061 yards, averaging 5.6 yards-per-carry. He added 12 catches for 207 yards. Pete set a school-record with a career average of 5.9 yards-per-carry, and finished second in school history with 3,284 career rushing yards. Mitch Thomas, a junior safety, finished third in the E8 with five interceptions and added 67 tackles, two forced fumbles and a fumble recovery. He also had a blocked field goal in the Bengals' season-opening overtime win over Cortland and was named E8 Defensive Player of the Week after recording 11 tackles and two picks in a win over Ithaca.
