The Empire 8 men's indoor track and field teams opened the 2014-15 season Saturday.  Teams competed at the Brockport Early Season Invitational, Cornell Relays and Yale.

ALFRED
Sophomore Jeffrey Nunez broke the school record while winning the weight throw with a toss of 15.45 meters to break a 19-year-old AU record. There were no team scores, but several other Saxons also turned in solid performances. FULL RELEASE

HOUGHTON
Despite having a small squad in action, Houghton indoor track saw several strong early season performances at the Brockport College Invitational on Saturday.   FULL RELEASE

ITHACA
The Ithaca College men's track and field team opened its indoor 2014-15 season at the Cornell Relays on Saturday, Dec. 6th in Barton Hall. Rashaad Barrett met the ECAC qualifying mark for the 60-meter dash. No team scoring was tallied in the meet that consisted of NCAA Division I institutions, club teams and unattached runners.

Barrett ran 7.04 in the 60-meter dash final, but passed the ECAC qualifier in the preliminaries with a time of 6.97 seconds. Barrett currently holds the Ithaca College 60-meter dash record (6.95 seconds) after breaking the previous record last year at the 2013 Cornell Relays.  FULL RELEASE 

NAZARETH
Nazareth's men's track and field teams opened their season with school records at the Greg Page Relays at Cornell on Saturday. Freshman Nick LaBarbera broke the record in the 500-meter dash with a time of 1:06.66. LaBarbera was sixth in the event. The previous school record was set in February 2013 by Jake Lafaver. FULL RELEASE

ST. JOHN FISHER
The St. John Fisher College men's track and field team opened its season at the Cornell Relays on Saturday with record-breaking performances. Taylor Youngkrans set a new school record in the weight throw with a ECAC-qualifying mark of 15.25 meters. FULL RELEASE 

STEVENS
The Stevens Institute of Technology men's and women's track teams put forth a solid showing Saturday at the Yale Season Opener in Connecticut. The one day, unscored event served as a winter season tune-up for programs across all levels of collegiate track and field.  Senior Robert Pinto qualified for the ECACs with a second place finish in the high jump while sophomore Brian Fratto took seventh in the 60 meter with a school record 7.17. UTICA
The Utica College men's track and field team placed third out of ten teams at the Brockport Early Season Invitational hosted by SUNY Brockport on Saturday.  

Junior Corey Zlatniski won the men's 1 mile race and set a new UC indoor record with a time of 4:29.01, edging out Jesse Jones of Mansfield for the top honors in the mile, while earning ten team points for the Pioneers. Zlatniski also placed second overall and earned eight team points after posting a time of 2:39.38 in the men's 1000 meter run.  Zlatniski is already the school-record holder in the 1000 after posting a time of 2:34.49 last season.
