Diving and Team Results
Alfred, Hartwick, Ithaca and Nazareth's men's swimming & diving teams competed in the first day of the Bomber Invitational Friday.
ITHACA
Through one night of competition, the Bombers are in third place with a total of 205 points after five events. Clement Towner opened the night for the Bombers, finishing 18th in the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 4:55.59, his best of the season.
Adam Zelehowsky followed with a fourth place finish in the 200-yard individual medley. He touched the wall in a time of 1:56.56, also posting a season-best time.
Logan Metzger placed fifth in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 21.30.
Matt Morrison placed second in 1-meter diving with a score 477.10. The men finished strong in the 200-yard medley relay. The team of
Ben Kennedy,
Aidan Hartswick,
Lucas Zelehowsky and Metzger posted a time of 1:35.64, placing second.
ALFRED
Alfred is tied for sixth with 106 points out of the-nine team field. The 50 Yard Freestylers
David Luke (Ocala, FL/West Port) and
David Coombes (Dansville, NY/Dansville) had a strong showing on the day. The senior duo finished in seventh and 11
th places with times of 21.35 and 21.66, respectively and combined for 39 team points.
The pair teamed with senior
Jeffrey Rowland (Rochester, NY/Hilton) and freshman
Joseph Lawrence (Clarence Center, NY/Clarence) in the 200 Medley Relay for an eighth place finish with a time of 1:39.62.
NAZARETH
Nazareth is ninth in the men's standings with 98 points. Freshmen
Andrew Closson and
Zachary Fink placed 12th and 13th respectively in 1-meter diving with scores of 289.15 and 269.30 respectively. In addition, freshman
Andrew Battaglia finished 12th in the 500 freestyle (4:52.64) and was followed by sophomore
Matt Leverich in 13th place (4:53.66).
Nazareth also placed ninth in the 4 x 50-yard medley relay in 1:40.09 with the team of Leverich,
Dan Burke,
Ibrahim Stungurys and
Ian Deveney.
HARTWICK
Junior
Matt Plunkett placed third for the men's team, which earned 156 points, in the 500 free. He swam the race in 4:46.65.
Ben Detar and
Brendan Quinn were fifth and sixth, respectively. Sophomore
Luis Santiesteban was 10
th in the 200 IM (1:58.85).
Plunkett,
Brendan Day, Detar, and
Miles Blaney finished seventh in the 4 x 50 medley relay. They earned a time of 1:38.92.
