Teams Open Indoor Season
The Empire 8 men's indoor track and field teams opened the 2014-15 season Saturday. Teams competed at the Brockport Early Season Invitational, Cornell Relays and Yale.
ALFRED
Senior
Miasia Hillman won one event and was second in another in the Alfred University women's indoor track and field team's season opener Saturday at SUNY Borckport.
Hillman won the 60-meter dash (7.86 seconds) and was runner-up in the 300-meter dash (42.70 seconds). Her time in the 300 meters set a new school record. There were no team scores, but several Saxons joined Hillman in posting top-10 performances.

HOUGHTON
Despite having a small squad in action, Houghton indoor track saw several strong early season performances at the Brockport College Invitational on Saturday.

ITHACA
The Ithaca College indoor women's track & field team began their 2014-15 season at Cornell's Greg Page Relays on Saturday in Barton Hall. No team scoring was tallied in the meet that consisted of NCAA Division I institutions, club teams and unattached runners.
Senior
Alexa Rick claimed Ithaca's top finish at the meet with a first place showing in the 5,000-meter run with a time of 18:36.31. Rick beat the next runner by over five seconds and the closest DIII competitor by 11 seconds.
Junior
Alex Rechen and sophomore
Natalie Meyer both qualified for the ECAC Championships in field events. Rechen placed second in the pole vault with a mark of 11 feet, 9.75 inches (3.60 meters), while Meyer cleared 5' 7" (1.70 meters) in the high jump.

Nazareth's women's track and field teams opened their season with school records at the Greg Page Relays at Cornell on Saturday. The meet included Division I athletes from Cornell, Syracuse, and Colgate. The women's 4 x 400-meter relay, consisting of freshmen

Hannah Brackley broke the school record with a sixth-place finish in 4:08.46. The previous school record was 4:08.7, which was set in February 2013.

ST. JOHN FISHER
The St. John Fisher College women's track and field team set new school records at the season-opening Cornell Relays on Saturday.
Melissa Vaughn completed the 60-meter hurdles in 9.52 seconds for a new school record.
In the distance events on Friday,
Sammy Van Gee also set a new school record. The sophomore placed third in the five-kilometer race with a time of 18:47.18, which smashes the previous record set by
Anna Phillips last season. Van Gee's time was also just two seconds off the ECAC-qualifying time.

STEVENS
The Stevens Institute of Technology women's track teams put forth a solid showing Saturday at the Yale Season Opener in Connecticut.
The one day, unscored event served as a winter season tune-up for programs across all levels of collegiate track and field.

UTICA
The Utica College women's track and field team placed sixth out of 11 teams at the Brockport Early Season Invitational hosted by SUNY Brockport on Saturday. The Pioneers totaled 35 team points overall in their season opener.
Junior
Sarah Wiatr, an NCAA qualifier last Spring, placed first in the triple jump with a leap of 11.53 meters to start the season off on the right foot. Wiatr also placed sixth overall in the women's long jump with a leap of 4.87 meters, good for three team points, in her first competition of the indoor season.
