Alfred, Hartwick, Ithaca and Nazareth's men's swimming & diving teams competed in the first day of the Bomber Invitational Friday. 

ALFRED
The Alfred University women's swimming and diving team completed Day One of the Ithaca College Invitational in ninth place after four pool events and one of the two diving events with a score of 84.5 Friday evening.

Sophomore Dylan Staniszewski (Oakton, VA/Oakton) was the Saxons' top performer of the day. She touched wall at the same time as Springfield College's Kassandra Lamb for a seventh place, 5:14.58 finish in the 500 Yard Freestyle. Staniszewski topped her seeded time of 5:28.35 by almost 14 seconds.

AU's only other top individual swimmer was senior Chrissy Behr (Surf City, NJ/Southern Regional). She earned a ninth place standing in the 50 Yard Freestyle with a 24.71. The duo combined for 42.5 of the team's 84.5 daily total.

The 200 Yard Medley Relay team of Behr, senior Molly Blair (Auburn, NY/Auburn), freshmanElizabeth Schiffhauer (West Seneca, NY/West Seneca East) and junior Kelsey McRill (Solon, OH/Solon) also garnered a ninth place effort with a time of 1:56.80 and earned another 40 points for the Saxons.

ITHACA
The Bombers currently rank fourth out of nine teams with 214 points. Cornell ranks first with a score of 434.
 
Catherine Tompkins opened the meet for the women with an 18th place finish in the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 5:25.03. Tompkins' finish just beat out two other Bombers, as Miranda Wingfield (5:25.99) and Michelle Heidgerken (5:26.33) finished 19th and 20th, respectively.
 
Christine Zulkosky followed with a time of 2:15.87 in the 200-yard individual medley, placing 18th overall. Lake Duffy finished 12th out of 53 participants in the 50-yard freestyle, touching the wall in a time of 24.95.
 
Nickie Griesemer paced the Bombers in 3-meter diving. The sophomore finished fourth out of 15 entries, recording a score of 432.64.
 
Ithaca closed the first day of competition with a fifth place finish in the 200-yard medley relay. The team of Kylie BangsSamantha Reilly, Zulkosky and Duffy finished in a time of 1:51.38, beating out four other relay teams.


NAZARETH
Sophomore Cameron Hess was Nazareth's top individual finisher Friday as the Golden Flyers' men's and women's swimming and diving teams began competition at the Bomber Invitational.

Nazareth is in eighth place in the nine-team women's field with 99 points. 

Hess finished sixth for Nazareth in the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 5:11.79, about three second shy of her personal best. Sophomore Lillian Masters was 16th in the same event with a time of 5:23.44, followed by senior Brittany Friedrich in 17th place (5:24.02).

Sophomore Bridget Geary finished 19th in the 50 freestyle in :25.40 and sophomore Elizabeth Carro was 24th in the 200 IM in 2:18.06. Nazareth also finished eighth in the 4 x 50-yard medley relay with the team of Friedrich, Geary, Meleana Schwab and Erika Holland. in 1:56.15.


HARTWICK
Hartwick sits in fourth place in the nine-team field.
           
The women's team accumulated 157 points on the evening. Junior Imma Rutigliano earned the Hawks' top finish with a second-place effort in the 200 IM. She secured a time of 2:09.96 in the event.
             
Sophomore Kelsey Elliott was fourth in the 50 free in a time of 24.55. Senior Gwen Mathias placed 12th in the 500 free (5:17.81).
           
The quartet of Ally AgateMorgan RigginsMaddy Hayes, and Elliott combined for a seventh place finish in the 4 x 50 medley relay.
