Ithaca and Hartwick Women Ranked in East Region
For the first time this season, the NCAA released its regional basketball rankings. The Ithaca College and Hartwick College women's basketball teams are two of six teams ranked in the East Region.
The NCAA regional rankings will be used in the selection of 2014 NCAA Division III Women's Tournament. They will now be released each Wednesday until the tournament field is announced on Monday, March 3.
Ithaca with an overall record of 18-4 this season ranks second in the
NCAA East Region Rankings for the 2013-14 season. Hartwick, who also boasts an overall mark of 18-4, is sixh in the rankings.
New York University tops the East with a mark of 18-2, while Vassar College (16-4) completes the top three.
A pair of SUNYAC members - Buffalo State (17-4) and Plattsburgh State (16-4) – rank fourth and fifth, respectively.
Ithaca will host its final regular-season contests on Feb. 14-15, facing Elmira at 8 p.m. Friday and Utica for senior day at 4 p.m. Saturday.
Hartwick is off until Tuesday, February 18 when it hosts Stevens. The Hawks travel to Houghton on Friday, February 21 and return home to Lambros for their regular season finale against Elmira the next day.
