Strong Performances at Bomber Invite

ITHACA
The Ithaca College women's track & field team competed Saturday at the Ithaca Bomber Invitational and Multi held at its own Glazer Arena. Ithaca hit 10 ECAC qualifiers, five on the track and five in field events.
Three of Ithaca's qualifiers were in relay events. Ithaca's team of juniors Harmony Graves (Ithaca, N.Y./Ithaca), Emily Smith (Orchard Park, N.Y./Orchard Park), Hannah Wright (Tamworth, N.H./Kennett) and Alexa Rick (Elyria, Ohio/Elyria Catholic) won the DMR in 12:32.10. The Bombers also won the 1,600-meter relay in 4:04.46. The team was comprised of junior Alex Lewis(Montrose, Pa./Montrose Area), sophomore Eliza Dewart (Barker, N.Y./Barker), Graves and rookieJulia Jones (Mansfield, Mass./Mansfield). Ithaca's 4x200 relay of junior Rachel Friedman (Stone Ridge, N.Y./Rondout Valley), Lewis, Dewart and sophomore Christine Kelly (Stone Ridge, N.Y./Rondout Valley) placed third in 1:46.36.
Graduate student Carly Graham (Syracuse, N.Y./West Genesee) ran fifth in the 3K in 10:42.69.
Rookie Natalie Meyer (Pittsford, N.Y./Pittsford Mendon) won the high jump with a clear of 1.64 meters.
The Bombers had a pair meet the standard in the long jump. Juniors Christine Benway(Queensbury, N.Y./Queensbury) and Emilia Scheemaker (Scarborough, Maine/Scarborough)placed fourth and seventh, respectively, with marks of 5.35 and 5.30 meters.
Junior Alex Rechen (Simsbury, Conn./Simsbury) cleared 3.32 meters in the pole vault to place fourth.
In the throwing events, junior Kristina Stockburger (Belle Mead, N.J./Montgomery) was the runner-up in the weight throw with a heave of 14.65 meters and classmate Corrine Taylor (Auburn, N.Y./Auburn) placed fourth in the shot with a toss of 11.77 meters.
ST. JOHN FISHER
The St. John Fisher College women's track and field squad competed against a loaded field at the Bomber Invite Saturday in Ithaca, NY knocking off two more school records in the process.
Kaylee Zbytek shaved nearly two seconds off her previous record mile time finishing in 5:25.55 good for a ninth place finish.
Shortly after Fisher saw another school record fall, this time in the 4 x 200 relay as Chelsea Cleveland, Ronni Ehlers, Nicoletta Lattuca and Morgan Mastin crossed in 1:49.11 good for second in their heat, sixth overall, and now 22nd on the ECAC rankings.
Sydney Saccone finished ninth in the 500-meter dash in 1:23.36 nearly qualifying for ECAC's.
Sammy Van Gee placed 8th in the 1000-meter run missing out on a ECAC qualifying mark by just .72 seconds in a time of 3.11.79.
Taylor Youngkrans threw her way to a third place finish in the hammer throw with a distance of 14.25 meters. Paige Willson secured a solid finish of 10th place in the shot put at 10.93 meters.
Lisa Knab compiled a stellar day in her field events. The junior earned a sixth place finish in the high jump at 1.49 meters. She also paced Fisher in the long jump taking 13th place with a jump of 5.01 meters. Lattuca was not far behind jumping 4.97 meters, good for 15th place.
