Dardir Sets Pentathlon School Record at Ithaca College Multi

ITHACA, N.Y. (February 16, 2014) – Junior
Amira Dardir (Jersey City, N.J.) of the Stevens Institute of Technology women's indoor track & field team set a new school record in the pentathlon at the Ithaca College Multi on Sunday at Ithaca's Glazer Arena – Athletics and Events Center.
Dardir placed third overall out of 15 competitors in the pentathlon with a total of 3,070 points. She surpassed her own school standard of 2,890 which was set last season at the ECAC Indoor Championships in March. Dardir finished three points behind the runner-up in the event.
The Jersey City native highlighted her performance with a first place finish in the high jump with a mark of 1.69 meters (5 feet, 6.5 inches). She earned 842 points with that showing and ranks her seventh in the NCAA. Dardir also took fifth in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 9.92 seconds.
The entire Stevens team will compete at Princeton University on February 23 at 10 a.m. for its next meet.
