For the men, the 500 freestyle was a blistering fast event as Ithaca sophomore Adam Zelehowsky won the Empire 8 title in a NCAA “B” cut time of 4:33.36. His preliminary time of 4:32.28 set a new program record. Hartwick sophomore Matt Plunkett took second place with a B-cut time of 4:36.56 and Stevens senior Conor Arcuri was third (4:38.11).
The Ducks had the top finisher in the 200-yard individual medley as sophomore Joshua Lefeber clocked a B-cut time of 1:52.34. Ithaca junior Lucas Zelehowsky touched second (1:53.35 B-cut) and Alfred junior Zac Toth placed third (1:54.39).
Stevens senior Tyler Hessler won the title in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 20.77 seconds, just edging out Ithaca junior Peter Knight (20.78) and Alfred junior David Luke (20.80). All three times met the NCAA B qualifying standard.
