Bombers and Ducks Appear USTFCCCA Regional Rankings
NEW ORLEANS, La. – The Ithaca College women's track & field team ranks third with 213.95 points in week four of the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association
Atlantic Region poll. The Stevens Institute of Technology track and field team ranks seventh.
Ithaca has seven performances earning points towards a national ranking. Junior
Emilia Scheemaker (Scarborough, Maine/Scarborough) has the best triple jump mark in the country with a school-record distance of 12.25 meters. She also sits 10th in the long jump with a leap of 5.50 meters. Rookie
Natalie Meyer (Pittsford, N.Y./Pittsford Mendon) cleared 1.67 meters in the high jump to sit 14th, junior
Harmony Graves (Ithaca, N.Y./Ithaca) ranks 18th with a school-record 25.45 finish in the 200-meter dash, classmate
Alex Rechen (Simsbury, Conn./Simsbury) has cleared 3.50 meters in the pole vault to rank 22nd and junior
Christine Benway (Queensbury, N.Y./Queensbury) is 34th in the long with a mark of 5.35 meters.
The Bombers' distance medley relay team of Graves,
Emily Smith (Orchard Park, N.Y./Orchard Park),
Hannah Wright (Tamworth, N.H./Kennett) and
Alexa Rick (Elyria, Ohio/Elyria Catholic) have the 19th-best time in the nation of 12:32.10.
Stevens sophomore
Amy Regan (Green Brook, N.J.) currently owns the third best time in the nation in the 5,000-meter race with a time of 16:55.59. Regan also ranks fifth in the 3K with a mark of 9:47.59.
Fellow sophomore
Gladys Njoku (Cedar Grove, N.J.) boasts the third top performance in the high jump at 1.70 meters (5 feet, 7 inches), while Dardir sits seventh at 1.69 meters (5' 6.5"). Dardir's school record pentathlon of 3,070 points ranks 22nd nationally.
The distance medley relay team of Regan, seniors
Ashley Princiotta (Manalapan, N.J.) and
Kelly Freed (Rutherford, N.J.) and freshman
Melissa Gibbons (Oradell, N.J.)rounds out the top national marks for Stevens. This team holds the 35th spot with a time of 12:35.57.
Ithaca moved up from 28th to 26th in the week four national standings. The Bombers will be back in action Saturday, Feb. 22 at Cornell's Deneault Invitational.
Stevens competes twice in the next two weeks on February 23 and 26, before the ECAC Indoor Championships begin on March 7-8. The national championships are slated for March 14-15 in Lincoln, Neb.
