No. 9 Stevens Rolls Over Hartwick on Senior Day

HOBOKEN, N.J. (February 1, 2014) – The No. 9 Stevens Institute of Technology women's swimming team earned a convincing 142-114 win over Hartwick College Saturday at the De Baun Aquatic Center.
Prior to the meet, Stevens honored the two members in its senior class swimming in the final home dual-meet of their respective careers –
Rebecca Dunn and
Megan Lisbon.
In the meet, the Ducks cruised to the win, swimming the final three events in exhibition and earning the top-time in 11-of-14 events in total.

April Lawson got the Ducks started on the right foot with a win in the 200-medley relay (1:53.63). Sophomore
Elizabeth Heinbach won the 1,000-yard freestyle with a time of 10:54.35, and sophomore freshman
Claire Hendershot was third (11:13.94).
Freshman
Danielle Caruso was first in the 200-yard freestyle behind a 1:57.45, and she was followed by sophomore
Katlyn Christenson in third (2:02.69). Rooker and Lisbon went one-two in the 100-yard backstroke with times of 1:01.58 and 1:03.24, with Lawson and sophomore
Elena Piper going two-three in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:10.12, 1:10.99).
Heinbach, junior
Maria McClure and Geyer swept one-through-three in the 200-butterfly (2:14.53, 2:17.21, 2:17.41), and sophomore
Jennifer Rutledge won the 50-free with a 24.90. Lawson and Caruso were first and second in the 100-yard freestyle, touching the wall at 54.60 and 54.91, as Hendershot and Geyer went one-two in the 200-yard backstroke (2:12.41, 2:14.42).
Piper and Lisbon finished second and third in the 200-yard breaststroke, tallying times of 2:35.90 and 2:39.15, and Caruso earned another win in the 500-yard freestyle behind a 5:10.88.
Despite swimming the final three events in exhibition, Rooker would have won the 100-yard butterfly with a 1:00.45, Heinbach's 2:15.88 would have won the 200-IM, and Caruso, Rutledge, Rooker and Lawson would have teamed for a victory in the 400-medley (3:43.31).
Stevens – which finishes its dual-meet season at 2-2 – will now turn its attention to the Empire 8 Championships in Ithaca, N.Y. that are slated to run from February 19-22 in Ithaca, N.Y.
