More B-Cuts and Records on Day 3

The Ithaca College men’s swimming and diving team is in first place heading into the fourth and final day of competition at the Empire 8 Championships in Ithaca, N.Y. The Bombers (639.5) hold a slim 11 point lead over second place Stevens Institute of Technology (628.5).
The third day of competition saw two championship records and 13 NCAA ‘B’ Cut qualifying times.
Ithaca junior Lucas Zelehowsky opened the evening finals with a 1:50.57 in the 200-yard butterfly. His time was good for a win, a B-cut time and a championship-record. Hartwick sophomore Ben Detar came in second in the 200 fly with a NCAA “B” cut time of 1:51.56 and Stevens junior Price Hu trailed him in third-place with an NCAA 'B" cut time of 1:53.61.
Ithaca senior Connor White tallied a B-cut time of 50.42 in winning the 100-back final. He was followed by the Stevens duo of Shawn Hanak and Ravi Sun in B-cut times of 50.49 and 50.73, respectively.
Stevens sophomore Joshua Lefeber won his third individual event of the championship, clocking a B-cut time of 57.39 in the 100-yard breaststroke. Ithaca junior Peter Knight finished second (58.07) and Stevens sophomore Dane Pilcher finished third (58.40).
Ithaca junior Matt Morrison added to his 3-meter title with a first place finish on the 1-meter board. Morrison scored a championship record of 582.30 points, 88 points better than Nazareth sophomore Jeff Green who was second with a total of 494.15.
The 800 free relay squad from Stevens of Alex Xu, Conor Arcuri, Tomasz Wolinksi and Nick Noga won their event with a B-cut time of 6:43.73. That time also set a new championship record. Ithaca finished second (6:43.90), Alfred took third (6:47.09) and Hartwick was fourth (6:52.13) - all B-cut times.
Saturday's schedule of events will consist of:
100-yard Freestyle
200-yard Backstroke
200-yard Breaststroke
400-yard Freestyle Relay
1,650-yard Freestyle
Women's 3-Meter Diving
The morning session will start at 10 a.m., while the finals will be held in the evening beginning at 6pm.
