Saxon women track and field team competes at RIT indoor invitational
ROCHESTER, NY – The Alfred University women's indoor track and field team competed Friday at the RIT Brown and Orange Invitational. There were no team scores, but AU senior
Rebecca Graudons (Mayfield, NY/Mayfield) won in the pole vault, with an ECAC-qualifying vault of 3.45 meters.
Freshman
Mary Baughman (Henrietta, NY/Rush-Henrietta) earned a second-place finish in the 5,000-meter run (18:44.12). Other top performers for the Saxon women were: freshman
Marissa Colburn (Bridgeport, NY/Cicero-North Syracuse), eighth in the 500-meter run (1:27.56); freshman
Abby Hampson (Canton, NY/Williams) and junior
Stephanie Mantie (New Hartford, CT/Northwestern Regional), 14
th (3:32.86) and 15
th (3:36.38), respectively, in the 1,000-meter run; junior
Liz DeMonte (Melville, NY/Walt Whitman), 13
th in the high jump (1.50 meters); and senior
Kari Blatz (North Babylon, NY/North Babylon), 12
th in the shot put (10.26 meters.
The AU team of Colburn, senior
Chelsea Hall (Grand Island, NY/Grand Island), Mantie and Hampson took 11
th in the 4X400-meter relay (4:40.62).
Alfred is in action next on Friday and Saturday, Feb. 28 and March 1, at the New York State championship meet in Canton, NY, hosted by St. Lawrence University.
