Bomber Women's T&F Meets 15 ECAC Qualifiers Saturday at Cornell

ITHACA, N.Y. – The Ithaca College women's track & field team met 15 ECAC qualifiers Saturday at Cornell's Deneault Invitational at Barton Hall. Nine of the qualifiers were on the track, six in the field events.

Junior Harmony Graves (Ithaca, N.Y./Ithaca) placed 11th in the 60-meter dash preliminaries in 8.03. She also finished eighth in the 200 in 25.83 and sophomore Christine Kelly (Stone Ridge, N.Y./Rondout Valley) followed in 12th in 26.74.

Junior Christine Benway (Queensbury, N.Y./Queensbury) hit the standard in the 60 hurdle prelims with a 9.42 finish before placing eighth in the finals with a finish of 9.71. She also earned fifth in the long jump with a 5.27-meter performance.

Junior Hannah Wright (Tamworth, N.H./Kennett) finished sixth and graduate student Carly Graham (Syracuse, N.Y./West Genesee) seventh in the 1,000 run. Wright crossed the finish line in 3:02.94 and Graham in 3:06.02.

Junior Leigh Martino (Windsor, N.Y./Windsor Central) finished third in the 500 with a time of 1:20.96.

Sophomore Rachel Doane (Hagerstown, Md./Boonsboro), Wright, sophomore Anna Fay (Marlow, N.H./Keene) and Graham teamed together to finish as the runner-up in the 4x800 relay in 9:56.21. 

Junior Emilia Scheemaker (Scarborough, Maine/Scarborough) won the triple jump with a mark of 11.63 meters. Rookie Natalie Meyer (Pittsford, N.Y./Pittsford Mendon) cleared 1.70 meters in the high jump to place second and junior Alex Rechen (Simsbury, Conn./Simsbury) cleared 3.45 meters in the pole vault to sit seventh. 
 
The Bombers had three hit ECAC qualifiers in the weight throw. Freshman Brandy Smith (Miami, Fla./Ransom Everglades School) had a 14.79-meter heave to earn silver. Following in third was junior Kristina Stockburger (Belle Mead, N.J./Montgomery) with a 14.51-meter finish and senior Elaine Abdulky (Ithaca, N.Y./Ithaca) was sixth with a toss of 14.22 meters.

The Bombers will next compete Friday and Saturday, Jan. 28 and March 1 at the New York State Collegiate Track Conference Indoor Championships at St. Lawrence.
