Cardinals Post Several Records at RIT Brown and Orange Invite

Taylor Youngkrans continued to rewrite the record books for the St. John Fisher College women's track and field team Friday evening at the RIT Brown and Orange Invitational.
Youngkrans set a new program-best in the weight throw, breaking her own record set earlier this season after recording a distance of 15.30 meters. Youngkrans also notched a new personal-best in the shot put with a distance of 10.29 meters.
Paige Willson continued to dominate in the shot put, finishing in first place and setting yet another Fisher record after a throw of 12.39 meters.
Kaylee Zbytek also put together a record-setting performance in the 3k after securing a sixth place finish as she completed the event in 11:03.68.
Sammy Van Gee finished in fifth place in the 1000 run with a time of 3:13.18, less than two seconds off her own record-setting pace.
Sarah Coon was right on her heels, finishing in sixth place at 3:13.63.
Meghan Hull established a new personal-best in the 800 after recording a finishing time of 2.37.45, which was good for 20
th, while
Shannon Davis and
Julianna Holland finished right behind her in 21
st and 22
nd, respectively.
Melissa Vaughn narrowly missed breaking her own school record in the 60 meter hurdles after finishing in 9.87 seconds, which was good for fifth place.
Renee Deruchia captured seventh place overall in the 5000 run after crossing the finish line in 19:44.92.
Nicoletta Lattuca also had a career-best performance in the long jump, leaping to a new personal-best with a distance on 5.14 meters, which placed the junior sixth overall out of 33 competitors.
The Cardinals also qualified for ECACs in the 4x4 relay as the team of
Sydney Saccone,
Chelsea Cleveland,
Morgan Mastin, and
Kaitlin Rizzo raced to a second place finish in 4:10.43. Ehlers also clinched a spot in the 4x2 relay at the upcoming ECAC Championship after setting a new personal record in the 200 with a time of 28.83.
The Cardinals will continue their record-setting season next weekend at the NYSCTC Championship in Potsdam, N.Y.
